Kuwaiti officials say they have arrested six members of a "terrorist cell", linked to al-Qaeda, who were planning to attack a US military base.
An interior ministry statement said that all six had confessed to the crimes after they were arrested.
The statement said they also planned to bomb the HQ of Kuwait's internal security agency, AP reported.
It mentioned other "important facilities" in the oil-rich kingdom, but gave no further details.

Al-Arabiya television said the group was plotting the attack for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which starts on about 20 August.
Camp Arifjan is a vast, purpose-built $200m (£120m) camp, and is the main US base in Kuwait.
It houses 15,000 US soldiers and is heavily protected.

Good on the Kuwaiti officials for there swift action and investigation against Al Qaeda.

I imagine that anyone would confess to anything the Kuwait officals wanted. They are not afraid to waterboard ;)

I really wonder why.

Every little ****e is 'linked to Al Qaeda' these days. I really wonder how many of these actually are and how many are blowing hot air for status.

Ramadan in less than 10 days! Yay! :)

Edit: Oh right topic, well done Kuwait.

Is that the Muslim equivalent of Christmas which you have a couple of times a year? Or am i getting confused?

Dont tell me you dont like to put the odd decoration up in December Laila
Even the most conservative of Muslims cant get away from the spirit of December :2razz:

Ramadan is fasting from sunrise to sunset, 12 hours roughly with no food or water everyday for the next month.
It is a month of forgiveness, charity and praying and re connecting with God.

Eid is our equivalent of Christmas. Day after Ramadan finishes and we celebrate :p

I have never put up decoration, are you crazy?
I dislike Christmas, everything goes up price wise, my TV goes rubbish and all the lights and having to send card to people because they sent it to me even tho i do not celebrate it and worst of all. Going round my partners house for a family dinner and meeting his devil like step mother, urgh. Its a whole month of hell. With my birthday bam smack in the middle 5 days before Christmas :(

I'm liberal but i run from Christmas ... and run fast and far

Sorry but i find Eid is just looongg. The minute it turns Eid i bet you have to go around to your relatives house and they come to you. I know, trust me.

Many good points against x-mas here. But i find it weird you don't get into the Christmas spirit. Even my Granddad and Grandma on my mums side who are Muslims put up a Christmas tree during December.

And omfg, if there is one thing id hate most, is to have my birthday during Christmas!

I know right? Annoying as hell.

Mosque in the morning, meeting family i only ever see in that one day of the year and having to hand our hundreds of pounds to all of the younger children at Mosque lol

I don't get into Christmas spirit at all. I am a grumpy old woman when it comes to Christmas.

You and me both. I never decorate my place. When I want to see decorations I drive around the neighborhood. Cards bah! Thats another reason being as anti-social as I am is a good thing. No one sends me a card and expects one in return.

Omg, and lets not forget the little children who come knocking my door just when i am settling into a movie and i have to get up, open the door, pretend to care about what they are singing, go back and get my purse and give them a tenner.

Its enough to make anyone insane

Aww your so nice

Halloween is by far the most annoying BS holiday we have, IMO. Also, Easter rocks.
The kids around my area are little Asbo's to top it off, what normal kids do you know that comes to your house dressed up as little goblins and instead of asking for sweets ask for a packet of Rizla's?
I haven't killed any of the little annoying buggers yet, when i move out of my parents house and get my own place for Uni im settling into a nice quiet area in Bristol (im a city boy at heart but Halloween makes you go to extreme lengths to avoid it).
