White House: 'War on terrorism' is over - Washington Times

'Jihadists' and 'global war' no longer acceptable terms

By Jon Ward and Eli Lake WASHINGTON TIMES

It's official. The U.S. is no longer engaged in a "war on terrorism." Neither is it fighting "jihadists" or in a "global war."

President Obama's top homeland security and counterterrorism official took all three terms off the table of acceptable words inside the White House during a speech Thursday at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think tank.

"The President does not describe this as a 'war on terrorism,'" said John Brennan, head of the White House homeland security office, who outlined a "new way of seeing" the fight against terrorism.

I will simply quote from Obama's oown book:
Audacity of Hope: I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

War on terrorism should be over only when the threat no longer exists ideally.

Why even use the term Jihadists? Why not just terrorists?

Why even use the term Jihadists? Why not just terrorists?

Because Jihadists makes it clear that Christian Terrorists are exempt from the phrase.

The war on Terrorism...Bush and Cheney's joke on America.

The joke was and is that Bush and Cheney forgot the leadership of those attacks and and George went off too avenge his daddy and Dick Cheney in a irrelevant Iraq. Lying too and robbing the American public the whole way.

So I would imagine that the victims of 9-11 and their families are still victims of the Bush administrations lies and ineptitude.

And Obama just upped and quit.... That's real swell.

This ain't news. We already knew the Libbos were going to surrender to the bad guys, first chance they got.

Can anyone say, "cut-n-run"?

Can anyone say Palin. speaking of cutting and running.

You see that is why the right has zero credibility today...Yes Bush and Cheney did cut and run from the true war on terror in Afghanistan and he put on his flightsuit swooped down on the aircraft carrier and lied his ass off.
So he could run off too a irrelevant Iraq.

You claimed that the left were "cut and runners" I gave you two examples of how the exact opposite is true..

Does it make any difference what we call it? The only thing that matters is what we do and how we do it. The rest is bull**** semantics. Who cares?

Oh come on Reverend, don't be so disingenuous here. You know damn well if you read that no where did he say or it say he was going to stop fighting terrorist as you directly imply in a later post was evident by the implications of the story in the OP. They clearly state that the words aren't to be used in the white house any longer and they're taking a different tact in this then a "global 'war'". You do yourselves no favor, nor your position, by acting this oblivious and ignorant on the matter.

 yeah it was a little over the top. Given all the crap I read today I thought thats what we were doing?

He did inrease troops in afghanistan, however I do not think he is being hard enough on Pakistan now.

Someone wake me when they get around to repealing the PATRIOT Act ...

Ah, the Great Reverend decided to follow in the footsteps of Liberals, believing their way of debating today was the best choice.
