I actually agree with American. This is weird.

We probably do the exact same thing, massage their coasts.

    I wouldn't doubt that.

Someone ping UtahBill. If I remember correctly he's a former submariner and might be able to shed light on what is normal and abnormal in respects to submarine patrols.
If you believe in the Supernatural then you can become a millionaire!

Questioning or criticizing another's core beliefs is inadvertently perceived as offensive and rude.

Really, the USSR helped the U.S. overthrow itself by supporting a democratically elected President...do what again exactly?

You got a link with dates?

It doesn't sound crazy--just ****ing retarded as hell.

Yeah, we probably still patrol there. Damn, that's a boring mission, 57 days at see, ran out of rice, even, and didn't leave until a shipmate had a medical emergency, since our replacement was late in arriving....

    ....been there, done that.

However....how does a submarine hear the ASW helicopters "warming up"? That part of your story sounds like total BS.

The Akula class is supposed to be a counterpart to the US Navy's Los Angeles class fast attack submarine.

They don't have the resources for extended and repeated deployments that far from home port, so what do they gain from this?
688 class boats can carry TLAM-N's, both as launched from the standard torpedo tubes and from vertical launch mini-missile tubes added to the ballast tanks. Also, some 688's have been "stretched" to make them mini-boomers, with a capacity for a fair number of Tomahawks.

The Russian boats could have similar arrangements.

Most likely though, those two ships were caught during their routine patrols, and it's no big deal. The Russians aren't going to even consider starting or provoking anything when their agent in the White House is doing all the damage to the US he can for free.

Big deal. They have likely had subs in and out of our harbors for decades. Same the other way.

    yep..

however in these days of paranoia on the US right, then such stories will just fuel their delusions about basically everything as we have witness in this thread and other threads, plus see in the media, blogs and so on every day. The right are getting more and more desperate and paranoid and that is a dangerous combination.
