Anti-Obama Rally in Jerusalem - Inside Israel - Israel News - Israel National News

by Hillel Fendel

(IsraelNN.com) For the first time in years, the nationalist camp will hold a large scale rally against United States policies vis-à-vis Israel.

The protest will be held in downtown Jerusalem, on Agron St. on Monday evening, and is being organized by the Residents Committees of Binyamin and Samaria, as well as the nationalist umbrella organization Mateh Maamatz, the Yesha Council of Jewish Communities, and Komemiyut.

Knesset Members and others representing various parties, including the Likud, will speak.

“Not since the days of [U.S. Secretary of State Henry] Kissinger has there been such a protest against American policies,” said MK Yaakov Katz (Ketzaleh), chairman of the National Union party. “The pressure that Barack Hussein Obama is exerting against us to simply stop growing and stop living will not work.”

The Obama administration has made it clear that Israel must stop building of all types throughout Judea and Samaria (Yesha), as well as in parts of Israel’s capital city that were liberated during the Six Day War of 1967.

I think Obama made it clear with his trip to the Middle East to bow down to the Muslim nations he was sending a message to Israel they could expect no support from his Administration. Obama bows to the Saudi's who fund Anti American Madrassas but turns a long relationship with Israel sour in favor of those with whom he shares a Religion. Mark my words this will lead to many deaths and promote war in the Middle East if Obama does not change his Amateur ways of dealing with our "Allies".

In Obaba's own words while talking with George Stephanopoulos, September 7, 2008.
Obama: "You're absolutely right that John McCain has not ah talked about my Muslim faith and you're absolutely right that is not som".
Stephanopoulos: "Your Christian faith".
Obama: "My Christian faith".
Classic Freudian slip? A Freudian slip is defined as; A verbal mistake that is thought to reveal an unconscious belief, thought, or emotion. In other words the truth.

I didn't care when Eurotrash had anti-Bush rallies and I am not going to care when Israelis have a anti-Obama rally.

The protests are an interesting development. It's a shame you took the story and created an "Obama is a secret muslim" thread with it

By that you mean you want Obama to just shut up and just say "yes" to everything Israel wants no matter what it is correct?

Given that Israel, unlike the Palestinians and the other Arab states, do not condone the use of terrorism as public policy, saying "yes" to everything Israel wants, while not the wisest of courses, is considerably more prudent than saying "no" to everything Israel needs....like defensible borders and an understanding that lobbing rockets at Israeli civilians is not an acceptable hobby, not even for Hamas and Hezbollah lackeys.

Please try not to project your personal views onto the meaning of what I say. I almost always include Obama's own words on most subjects because they help explain his motives. There are people who love to try to spin what others post as a way to bait them. Obama's religion is at the core of his policy toward Israel and there are those who still deny what he said himself. I find it telling. We have 60 year track record of support of Israel beginning with being the first Nation to recognize them. Now when they are under threat is not the time to signal others that they are no longer our close Allies.

Obama isn't saying NO to everything Israel needs, he is saying no to ONE THING that Israel WANTS because it will just add to more instability in the region.

Peace in the Middle East will not come by kissing Israel's ass, as Bush did. If anyone can negotiate the delicate obstacles to peace, I believe Hillary and Obama can.

the Yesha Council of Jewish Communities represents those in illegal settlements. Anything that pisses them off is a sign that things are moving in the right direction.

They're our number one ally in the region, so, yes. Within reason, of course.

Bomb the rally with air strikes.

Israel can handle criticism, and they can handle us backing off a little to work for peace in the Mid-East. They may not like the process, but they will like the result.

You base this on what?

Hope?

Change?

Their historical understanding?

The tingle of your legs...

An anti-Obama rally in Jerusalem will be intrepreted as a pro-Obama here in the states by a LOT of people. I mean, we all love Isreal but a lot of folks in the US do not like the appearance of being their lap-dog.

I have long felt that Israel's chain needed yanking now and then. But that does not negate the fact that they are our allies, in a place we need good allies, and if push comes to shove, no matter what trouble Israel may drag us into, we'll be there. But something's gotta give.

Why couldn't Israel found their promised land in, say, Montana? Instead they are smack dab in the middle of Heathenville.

But, like the little brother that always got his big brother into fights defending him, we need to have a "come to Jesus meeting" with Israel and let them know their alligator goals are overloading their hummingbird arse. We are, after all, the United States of America, not the United States of Israel. There has to be some compromise.

I base this on the fact that they are really trying instead of playing a game to fool the electorate (us).

I see.

Yes, Obama is "really" trying. Care to provide some reasons you say this?

And this is one of those that is NOT within reason, because it stands to cause even more instability if Israel builds there.

Obama Speech In Cairo:

America's strong bonds with Israel are well known. This bond is unbreakable. It is based upon cultural and historical ties, and the recognition that the aspiration for a Jewish homeland is rooted in a tragic history that cannot be denied.

Around the world, the Jewish people were persecuted for centuries, and anti-Semitism in Europe culminated in an unprecedented Holocaust. Tomorrow, I will visit Buchenwald, which was part of a network of camps where Jews were enslaved, tortured, shot and gassed to death by the Third Reich. Six million Jews were killed - more than the entire Jewish population of Israel today. Denying that fact is baseless, ignorant, and hateful. Threatening Israel with destruction - or repeating vile stereotypes about Jews - is deeply wrong, and only serves to evoke in the minds of Israelis this most painful of memories while preventing the peace that the people of this region deserve.

On the other hand, it is also undeniable that the Palestinian people - Muslims and Christians - have suffered in pursuit of a homeland. For more than sixty years they have endured the pain of dislocation. Many wait in refugee camps in the West Bank, Gaza, and neighboring lands for a life of peace and security that they have never been able to lead. They endure the daily humiliations - large and small - that come with occupation. So let there be no doubt: the situation for the Palestinian people is intolerable. America will not turn our backs on the legitimate Palestinian aspiration for dignity, opportunity, and a state of their own.

For decades, there has been a stalemate: two peoples with legitimate aspirations, each with a painful history that makes compromise elusive. It is easy to point fingers - for Palestinians to point to the displacement brought by Israel's founding, and for Israelis to point to the constant hostility and attacks throughout its history from within its borders as well as beyond. But if we see this conflict only from one side or the other, then we will be blind to the truth: the only resolution is for the aspirations of both sides to be met through two states, where Israelis and Palestinians each live in peace and security.

That is in Israel's interest, Palestine's interest, America's interest, and the world's interest. That is why I intend to personally pursue this outcome with all the patience that the task requires. The obligations that the parties have agreed to under the Road Map are clear. For peace to come, it is time for them - and all of us - to live up to our responsibilities.

Palestinians must abandon violence. Resistance through violence and killing is wrong and does not succeed. For centuries, black people in America suffered the lash of the whip as slaves and the humiliation of segregation. But it was not violence that won full and equal rights. It was a peaceful and determined insistence upon the ideals at the center of America's founding. This same story can be told by people from South Africa to South Asia; from Eastern Europe to Indonesia. It's a story with a simple truth: that violence is a dead end. It is a sign of neither courage nor power to shoot rockets at sleeping children, or to blow up old women on a bus. That is not how moral authority is claimed; that is how it is surrendered.

Now is the time for Palestinians to focus on what they can build. The Palestinian Authority must develop its capacity to govern, with institutions that serve the needs of its people. Hamas does have support among some Palestinians, but they also have responsibilities. To play a role in fulfilling Palestinian aspirations, and to unify the Palestinian people, Hamas must put an end to violence, recognize past agreements, and recognize Israel's right to exist.

At the same time, Israelis must acknowledge that just as Israel's right to exist cannot be denied, neither can Palestine's. The United States does not accept the legitimacy of continued Israeli settlements. This construction violates previous agreements and undermines efforts to achieve peace. It is time for these settlements to stop.

Israel must also live up to its obligations to ensure that Palestinians can live, and work, and develop their society. And just as it devastates Palestinian families, the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza does not serve Israel's security; neither does the continuing lack of opportunity in the West Bank. Progress in the daily lives of the Palestinian people must be part of a road to peace, and Israel must take concrete steps to enable such progress.

Finally, the Arab States must recognize that the Arab Peace Initiative was an important beginning, but not the end of their responsibilities. The Arab-Israeli conflict should no longer be used to distract the people of Arab nations from other problems. Instead, it must be a cause for action to help the Palestinian people develop the institutions that will sustain their state; to recognize Israel's legitimacy; and to choose progress over a self-defeating focus on the past.

America will align our policies with those who pursue peace, and say in public what we say in private to Israelis and Palestinians and Arabs. We cannot impose peace. But privately, many Muslims recognize that Israel will not go away. Likewise, many Israelis recognize the need for a Palestinian state. It is time for us to act on what everyone knows to be true.

Too many tears have flowed. Too much blood has been shed. All of us have a responsibility to work for the day when the mothers of Israelis and Palestinians can see their children grow up without fear; when the Holy Land of three great faiths is the place of peace that God intended it to be; when Jerusalem is a secure and lasting home for Jews and Christians and Muslims, and a place for all of the children of Abraham to mingle peacefully together as in the story of Isra, when Moses, Jesus, and Mohammed (peace be upon them) joined in prayer.

What part of this do you take exception to?

Have you purchased your tin hat yet? HAHA

Most of it, Obama seems to put the emphasis on Israel to change, and be the ones forced to make concessions and do what the Palestinians want... Everytime they've done this they've gotten burned. Obama's POV seems to be "Make Israel weak equals peace".

I find that to be at the very least, naive, and at worst malicious.

I don't know about that. I've seen a great deal of hatred preached from evanagelical pulpits for the past decade.

If you're not seeing it....you're not looking.

Of course there are some asshat preachers in the pulpit..

But I don't recall any President who spent 20 years listening to such...

Its hard to know if any of them did or didn't....unless you sat through 20 years of sermons. My guess is that many of them sat through a few such sermons.

I wonder if you'd of said that say... two years ago or so? I'm thinking no.
