Sailor charged in Camp Pendleton shooting death of seaman

Does not look like this was an anti-gay hate crime:

I agree, it appears that this he did this so he could cover up evidence. The sailor that did this is a thug and I hope he either gets life in a military prison or the death penalty.

Nothing to see here folk. Move along.

Yeah a sailor being killed is nothing.

Do you have anything of worth to actually add to the discussion?

If it's a hate crime, then it's a breakdown in discipline.

no evidence of a hate crime

The killer shot the victim and burned his body. I don't think that love was involved.

I despise the whole concept of "hate crimes." It's just one more excuse to value one person or group more than another.

This case illustrates how the concept is misused.

Is the victim any less dead because gender prejudice wasn't a motive?

Yes, this has nothing to do with this sailor's sexual orientation.

As to his killing, well, that is a tragedy. The Navy will investigate and take the proper actions.

I am a retired Marine Corps Officer and take the death of any of our great service members seriously. More so than you, but may not.....hopefully.

Hmmmm think I agreed with that. So why not just make that comment instead of saying "move along, nothing to see here"?

Funny, YOU are the one that made the comment "move along, nothing to see here". Yeah, that REALLY shows you take it seriously

Yea, I'm just a baaaaaaad man.

I find the title of this article inappropriate to the seriousness of this incident.

THANK YOU! I thought, "Who is he to tell us when a subject matter is nothing?" Jesus Christ. Yeah, it's so NOT worthwhile that he takes time to post in the thread.

I say again.... Nothing to see here folk. Move along.

Are you implying that the ONLY reason this should be breaking news is because it was a hate crime, Mr. Former Retired Officer?

I must have missed this episode of NCIS how many big gulps did Abby need to figure this one out? In all seriousness its always tragic to hear about soldiers killing fellow soldiers. There was another one like this a few months back offbase.

What I am saying is that this is a story, a tragic one, of one Sailor killing another Sailor. Why was sexual orientation brought up in the first place?

If you want to read this as a "hate" crime (I have no idea what a hate crime is.) then there is nothing to see, so just move along.

Oh, if you are trying to use "Mr. Former Retired Officer" as a pajoritive....please try again. Besides it should have been ...."Mr. Retired Marine Corps Officer" or "Mr. Former Marine Corps Officer (Retired)".

Geeish.....

....then STOP talking about my posts. Just ignore them. Problem solved.

Because many hate crime advocates are quick to seize upon victims who are gay/minority, and use them as poster children, regardless of the motives in the crimes.

I.e., Matthew Sheppard.
