Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” on Sunday that Iran will never achieve its goal of obtaining a nuclear weapon, declaring to Tehran: "Your pursuit is futile."
"What we want to do is to send a message to whoever is making these decisions, that if you're pursuing nuclear weapons for the purpose of intimidating, of projecting your power, we're not going to let that happen," Clinton said.
"First, we're going to do everything we can to prevent you from ever getting a nuclear weapon. But your pursuit is futile, because we will never let Iran — nuclear-armed, not nuclear-armed — it is something that we view with great concern, and that's why we're doing everything we can to prevent that from ever happening. ... We believe, as a matter of policy, it is unacceptable for Iran to have nuclear weapons."
Now that's what I'm talking about. I hope Obama backs it up with some balls now. Keep kicking the Iranian government in the teeth. Next thing they need to tell them is, if you hit Israel we hit you.

I think we all know they'll never say anything that hardcore. Hillary's comments in the article is just lip service.

I doubt it. Whether Dear Leader has the smarts to show the world that his Secretary of State is the meanest bitch on the block is debatable, but US foreign policy never squares well with a nation like Iran pursuing any sort of hegemony or sphere of influence.

Plus, it's the one lever that is likely to influence the mullahs--they might come out on top in a regional arms race, but they would not prevail in a game of military build up with the US.

Yes it would be nice to think that Obama would stand for something other than the total destruction of our economy but I wouldn't hold my breath.
Sadly the old adage "Talk is Cheap" is the first thing that springs to mind.
Our ability to enforce these statements are limited to talk and more talk followed by a few sanctions that are easily thwarted by dealing under the table with Russia and China who might go along with such plans outwardly in the security council but behind the scenes they know there's not much anyone can do if they get caught. They'd just say yea so what? We owe them too much money and the rest of the UN is a mealy mouthed nambie pambie bunch of sissy's.
One thing that would work is a mysterious nuclear explosion at their atomic energy research facility. To which we could be sympathetic as we say oh my God look what they did to themselves. I wonder how that could have happened. I know this is my go to idea for this problem but until we try who's to say it wouldn't work?
