My Way News - Gates says it's time to 'move on' from his arrest

Quote from article(Black Harvard scholar Henry Louis Gates Jr. says he's ready to move on from his arrest by a white police officer, hoping to use the encounter to improve fairness in the criminal justice system and saying "in the end, this is not about me at all.")

In the end Mr. H.L.Gates this is precisely about you.
If you can possibly learn that in such an incident where you were (quite correctly) arrested.
It is to be hoped that you are able to tone down your rhetoric and supply the information requested by the Police person without calling into the conversation remarks concerning the Policeman's Mother.

I believe it's possible that this racist wants to move on because someone who is actually intelligent got to the dummy and told him he was open to the law suit hinted at by the Sgt. who busted the mouthy jerk.
In the court of public opinion only extreme racists came down on his side and even that began to go away when Obama was inundated with with messages pointing out that he, Obama was also a racist.

I'll be he is ready to move on, now that a black police officer made him look like a fool.

If I acted like an idiot I think I would want to move along too.

Gates has figured out that he let his mouth overload his ass. He oughta be glad he went into asshole mode in Cambridge. Anywhere else and he might got his ass kicked.

By who? The police?

By who? The police?

Uh, yeah, by the cops. If he'd pulled some crap like that in a place like New Orleans, he would have been carried to jail. Not only would he have been charged with disorderly conduct, but resisting arrest, assault on an officer and whatever else they could think of on the way to the district barracks.

Im sure everyone here would be perfectly reasonable if the police arrested them in their own home.

I would. Because my rational response would create a happy ending. Besides, I'm not so stupid that I would give a cop a reason to charge me with a crime.

But isnt your home your castle?

Yes, it is; unless the cops see me me breaking in and I have to explain myself. Then again, I'm going to produce a valid driver's license vice a sutdent ID. Then again, again, I'm not going to be stupendously stupid enough not to have a key to my own house.

Then again, again, again I would be able to realize that if I was stupid enough not to have a key to my own house, I may have to explain to someone why I was jimmy'n the door open.

But...hey...I'm white. 'Splainin' myself in a rational manner is purdy much the only option I have.

Is that another law that should be made if you dont have your key its not your house? You claim to be a conservative but what you mean is social conservative not pro freedom conservative you are sucking up to the government.

Well, in this day and age, bustin' down the door is a bad sign. If you have to break in to your own home, you must be prepared to prove that it's your home. It's just common sense. What's a cop supposed to do, take the person's word that it's his/her home and just leave the scene?

"Oh! You're breaking into your own home because you don't have your key? Well, sorry to bother you!"

What if it's your house that someone is breaking into, because he doesn't have his key? You want the cops to ask questions, or you want the cop to say, "ok", and carry on?

I'm a common sense Conservative.

Having to bust down the door doesn't make it obvious that it's your house. Sorry!!

Im sure you would be reasonable in that situation.Doesent change the fact they dragged a man out his own house and arrested him.Was that really in the public interest?

Was it in the public interest for Gates to go bezerk on the cops? What was that going to accomplish? Why not just say, "hey, officer, this is my home. Here's my driver's license that proves that this is my home of record"? What the hell is the problem with that?!?!?

No, not even close, but I do want the police to make an honest effort to prove that the person breaking into my home, is the owner. I would be impressed as hell if the cops made that effort to prove that the person breaking into my home wasn't an actual burgler. I mean, hell, that's like, their job.

You really think he needed to be arrested to prove that?

Or there would be an even bigger media cluster**** and cries of police brutality. Be glad that did not happen.

The racist bigot dumb **** was arrested because he broke the law.

All he had to do to avoid getting arrested was obey the law. Because he was a self-important and otherwise totally irrelevent Hahvahd perfessor in charge fo a racist department, he had to prove his manhood to himself by browbeating a white cop.

It didn't work to well, and now even his pal the Messiah is telling him to drop it.

I'd say the cop won the battle.

Naturally his promotions have halted, but he was still in the right in this case.

He needed to be arrested because he was creating a public disturbance and he was refusing to control himself.

It's against the law to be disorderly in public, and that's what that boy was doing.

Terms like "acting disorderly" are a bit to vauge for my liking. You think this cant be abused?

I bring ya back to the idea people should be arrested in the public interest i dont see this in this situation. The police should of let this go.
