So Obama said the stimulus would make sure unemployment wouldn't go over 8 percent, and now it's almost at 10 percent. He said the economy was the worst since the Great Depression, then he said shortly thereafter that it was even worse than they thought. Then his VP says we'd better keep spending money or we'll go bankrupt.

And tonight, he's going to actually look us in the eyes and tell us how he saved us from a worse recession? As if could even know that if it wastrue.

I tell you, someone's got to be 12 shades of stupid to believe anything this dude says.

Were we not told by the Bush administration last September that the economy was about to implode? Obama deserves credit for avoiding that nightmare, caused by Republican greed and ignorance.

Actually, it was February, and Dear Leader, that made that fatuous claim.

Barack Obama - The Action Americans Need

His solution was the slow-motion stimulus that doesn't spend much until after the mid-term elections. That's his idea of timely stimulus to repair an economy that's deteriorating daily.

Dear Leader told you the sky was falling, and you believe him.

Bush was wrong then too. He Panicked in his last months in office. Obama is just now beginning to panic.

I will never understand or forgive Bush for his last year in office. He was a different man.

You can't even remember 10 months ago?

Bush Officials Urge Swift Action on Rescue Powers
WASHINGTON — The Bush administration, moving to prevent an economic cataclysm, urged Congress on Friday to grant it far-reaching emergency powers to buy hundreds of billions of dollars in distressed mortgages despite many unknowns about how the plan would work.
At the end of a week that will be long remembered for the wrenching changes it brought to Wall Street and Washington, Mr. Paulson and Ben S. Bernanke, the Federal Reserve chairman, told lawmakers that the financial system had come perilously close to collapse. According to notes taken by one participant in a call to House members, Mr. Paulson said that the failure to pass a broad rescue plan would lead to nothing short of disaster.

I remember that....it was all about passing TARP. Dear Leader is the one who blathered on about "saving" the entire economy in one fell swoop.

We now know that he was, as per his usual, lying through his teeth.

btw, it was Clinton's "Community Reinvestment Act" that lowered the bar for lenders... combined with his cronies strong-arming banks and lenders to give loans to those who were under-qualified for them. Which contributed a lot to the housing crisis which contributed to the credit crisis, which Bush and Co.. and now Obama and Co handled wrong by trying to stave it off like they did back in the day before the great depression.

History isn't a great teacher for politicians.. they continue to **** everything up.

Neat.

At the time Obama made the predicitions you are referring to I don't think anyone knew what to expect with any great certainty. Given the rate that the economic indicators were in a downward spiral at the time I'm surprised that it started leveling off in some of the sectors that it has. I also think that some of the statements he was making was for the purpose of boosting consumer confidence. As for Biden, well, who actually puts much stock in what he says on economic matters?

And tonight, he's going to actually look us in the eyes and tell us how he saved us from a worse recession? As if could even know that if it wastrue.

I actually want to hear what he has to say.

To use your phrase, anyone has to be 12 shades of stupid to believe at face value what any politican is telling them. IMO.

And Bush had 8 years to fix Clinton's mistake. If Clinton or Gore were president they would have corrected the economy instead of letting it fall apart just to blame it on a predecessor.

Sweet, I like pants.

See how I shifted the topic of that conversation without actually taking responsibility for anything?

You're not going to get an argument out of me, how Bush jr is quite possibly the WORST president we've ever had.... You're also not going to convince me that Obama isn't climbing the ladder on his way to claim that title from Bush Jr.

Maybe if you say it enough someone real stupid will believe you.

What's funny is your dear leader is doing the exact same things Bush did... he's continuing on down that path of reckless spending, increasing government power... the only thing that he has going for him over bush is.. he's charismatic, and can speak to the public.

But, it's okay, you can continue to defend his honor. :)

So Clinton would have spent the second eight years fixing what he f'ed up the first eight years? :rofl

And Mr. Lockbox would have fixed the economy with.....cap and trade?:rofl

Re: Obama to tell us he saved us from a really bad recession tonight

MSNBC actually has a running countdown clock to Obama's press conference. Do they have no shame?
