Re: AP NewsBreak: Palin implicated in ethics probe

While I haven't really been following the various investigations of Palin, I understand that the majority of them (if not all) to date have come up with nothing.

It will be interesting to see what this one dredges up.

Personally, I think there should be a new “Department of Corruption Elimination”, or some such. They should be tasked with investigating all members of the government bi-yearly for any possible corruption.

Of course, that would likely take half the current federal budget to implement…

I believe 16 cases have been charged and of the 16, 15 cases were dropped due to no evidence. The other case she paid back money voluntarily altho no law breaking was found.

We actually have people that can do this very thing. However if they are truly free from political pressure is arguable. Obama just fired one such investigator without clear reasons.

    She viiolated Alaska Statute 39.52.110

"However, the report found that Palin, her husband Todd, and her subordinates used pressure and intimidation to try to force the firing of Michael Wooten, beginning before her swearing-in ceremony took place, and therefore broke the law.

The investigation said she violated Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act, which states, "… each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust."

It's just the tip of the iceberg. This so called reformer is an abuser of power.

"When asked by a reporter today, "Governor, did you abuse your power?" Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said, "No, and if you read the report you'll see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member. You gotta read the report, sir."

It's true that there's nothing "unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member" in principle.

But the report is not as Gov. Palin is presenting it, in terms of ethics laws.

    To wit:

"I find that Governor Sarah Palin Abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act...

"Compliance with the code of ethics is not optional... "

IF she actually broke any laws, and mind you this is an ethics investigation by an independent investigator whose ethics including giving reports to the media... she's done.

Let's stop right there, this investigator "leaked" his findings to the AP.

Which makes one wonder how legit his charges really are.
Climate, changes. It takes a particularly uneducated population to buy into the idea that it's their fault climate is changing and further political solutions can fix it.

You know, whenever somebody stands on a pedestal and tells everybody else how to live their lives, a little red light always goes off in my head.

Stick a fork in Palin's political career. It is done.

    Article is here.
I don't see you looking into your liberal heros like you do conservatives. You're a really fair and balanced person.....NOT.

For her cynical attitude and her abuse of power. She is a phoney baloney who will eventually get the punishment that she deserves.

The simple fact of the matter is that with outside help, or new income, the Palin's could never pay their legal debts, which is also illegal. this should suggest certain things to you about the nature of the laws and ethics involved in these matters.
The rabid mouthfoamers just can't help themselves. They going to get Palin on something if it kills them.
