A couple of things here; what part of "I think they are rushing because they are unsure of the 2010 elections" do you not comprehend?

And two; we are not talking about healthcare reform; what part of Government provided healthcare forcing all Americans to obtain healthcare whether they want it or not and taxing employer provided plans do you NOT get?

Americans may be demanding "reform", but that is not the plan we are seeing from the Democrats no matter how dizzy you get trying to spin it as such.

    Carry on.

I'm doubting that this is what anyone had in mind when they called for health care reform.

I don't recall trying to "spin" anything, I was agreeing that the electorate will be upset if they don't get health care reform, and that is why it is being "rushed".

Your making the assumption that they actually know anything in the first place.

UHC is a less desirable system than what we have now.

Please cease making this thread about the Greatness that is the Good Reverend. You have already been shown wrong on the nature of the consitution, the date of its adoption, and your false premise about "positive rights"

Let me understand your claim; the American people will not re-elect Democrats in 2010 if they do not get Government Healthcare passed before the August recess?

Again, this is not a debate about “reforming” health care; this is a debate about the Government engaging in the Health Care insurance business without the necessary funding and competing with private insurance.

Now this begs the question that needs to be asked of ALL our political representatives in Washington; is this the same plan they give themselves and if not, why not? The answer to this question should remove all doubt as to whether you should support this vast boondoggle which will do NOTHING to “reform” our healthcare but merely replace what we have now with a mediocre program managed by morons who cannot balance their own budgets and cost the American taxpayer vast sums of money.

I have the best health insurance by choice, I already am covered under the VA for life but I choose to get good health care....

Please lets not be dishonest about the oppositions position.
If you rounded it out with Tri-Care you are definitely set, I've heard some horror stories about VA only coverage.

Re: House bill would make health care a right

Yeah I know the conservatives here will just blow this off, but what the heck...

The reason the WH is pushing for a bill is they are trying to NOT repeat the mistakes of 1993. Just ponder for a moment; $1.4 million a day is being spent right now on lobbyists seeking to derail reform.

    Washington Post

Familiar Players in Health Bill Lobbying

The nation's largest insurers, hospitals and medical groups have hired more than 350 former government staff members and retired members of Congress in hopes of influencing their old bosses and colleagues, according to an analysis of lobbying disclosures and other records.
Now does anyone think that they have OUR interests in mind, or their own corporate interests?

    FYI:
Poll: Most Back Public Health Care Option
A clear majority of Americans -- 72 percent -- support a government-sponsored health care plan to compete with private insurers, a new CBS News/New York Times poll finds. Most also think the government would do a better job than private industry at keeping down costs and believe that the government should guarantee health care for all Americans.
NBC News/Wall Street Journal Survey (PDF)
76% said it was "Extremely" or "Quite" important to give a choice of BOTH a public plan administered by the federal government, and a private plan for their health insurance

    Bloomberg News
Most Americans Support Public Health Care Option, Poll Finds
Sixty-nine percent of Americans support creation of a government-run health plan to compete with private insurance companies, a new poll found.

In addition, 52 percent of those surveyed by Hamden, Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University said such a plan would keep the private insurance companies honest. Thirty-two percent disagreed. Twenty-six percent said they opposed a government-run insurance program. Some health-care overhaul plans proposed by Democrats in Congress would include a government-run plan, while Republicans are leading the fight against such a program.
