House bill would make health care a right

You're a pretty weird person.
"Other people" provide quite a lot for you every day. Military and police protection, fire protection, paved roads, water, sewage and electricity. Do you fuss about paying the taxes that furnish these services? Yet you have a problem with the most important service of all, the one that will keep your miserable heart beating in the event of a medical crisis. Go figure.

Personal attacks and red herrings to hide blatant ignorance.

TARP was "rammed" through by the Bush administration. I don't think it's premature to pass a bill of intent regarding health care, even if the details need to be filled in later. Republicans simply don't want health care because they get campaign funding from the pharmaceutical and insurance industries. It's that simple. Most Americans want health care, and that is who Congress is supposed to represent.

This is incorrect as usual and is a lie to me.... I don' want government health care because I can afford better health care than the Government can ever provide.

I have the best health insurance by choice, I already am covered under the VA for life but I choose to get good health care....

Please lets not be dishonest about the oppositions position.

Thank you for that pretty well done industry funded GOP talking point PDF. Now would you care to actually present a PDF that is not a tool for partisan bickering, but actual proposals up for debate?

Got the CBO's projections?

"attack the messenger" makes for weak debate.

This entire idea is ridiculous to even debate. Socialized healthcare? Are you f-in serious? Do the umpteen dozen examples out there not make the case that what we already have is not 1000 percent better than what the governmnent will provide for us?

Has the government's handling of EVERYTHING for the past 100 years not convinced us all that they are not the ones to run anything other than national defense?

I think they are rushing because they are unsure of the 2010 elections. They are going to saddle the pubic with $trillions in debt over this. And all for a few tens of millions, that might be helped by a solution customized for them, instead of the entire country.

The bolded part is exactly correctomundo. :2wave:

This is so messed up that I literally have no idea where to begin in ripping this nonsense to shreds. Seriously, W.T.F.? Are the Democrats determined to **** themselves over, yet again?

I've never encountered such a self-destructive group of people, IN MY LIFE. Except maybe gang members.

Change you can believe in eh? :rofl

Why you bragging blowhard; just rub our faces in it why don't you!!

It's people like you who take all the available services so that the rest of us have nothing; shame on you. This is why it is important the Libruls and Obama remove CHOICE and force us all to have the same mismanaged pathetic mediocre care.

The bolded part is exactly correctomundo. :2wave:

You are correct. Why? Because the American people made it clear they expect health care reform, and if they don't get it by 2010 there will be hell to pay.

Ladies and Gentlemen, what do you expect from a radical leftist?

Obama has been playing the Saul Alinsky tune from day one, and is merely continuing it. Throw as much as you can, as fast as you can and overwhelm the system. RUSH EVERYTHING, don't give anyone time to stop your plans.

It's rather sickening to watch, I expect this developing and 3rd world countries, it appears the American people decided we needed a dose of utter idiocy as well.

A couple of things here; what part of "I think they are rushing because they are unsure of the 2010 elections" do you not comprehend?

And two; we are not talking about healthcare reform; what part of Government provided healthcare forcing all Americans to obtain healthcare whether they want it or not and taxing employer provided plans do you NOT get?

Americans may be demanding "reform", but that is not the plan we are seeing from the Democrats no matter how dizzy you get trying to spin it as such.

Carry on. :2wave:

I'm doubting that this is what anyone had in mind when they called for health care reform.

I don't recall trying to "spin" anything, I was agreeing that the electorate will be upset if they don't get health care reform, and that is why it is being "rushed".

Your making the assumption that they actually know anything in the first place.

UHC is a less desirable system than what we have now.

I provided a well reasoned argument for your response and deserve better than insults.

Please cease making this thread about the Greatness that is the Good Reverend. You have already been shown wrong on the nature of the consitution, the date of its adoption, and your false premise about "positive rights"

Let me understand your claim; the American people will not re-elect Democrats in 2010 if they do not get Government Healthcare passed before the August recess?

Again, this is not a debate about “reforming” health care; this is a debate about the Government engaging in the Health Care insurance business without the necessary funding and competing with private insurance.

Now this begs the question that needs to be asked of ALL our political representatives in Washington; is this the same plan they give themselves and if not, why not? The answer to this question should remove all doubt as to whether you should support this vast boondoggle which will do NOTHING to “reform” our healthcare but merely replace what we have now with a mediocre program managed by morons who cannot balance their own budgets and cost the American taxpayer vast sums of money.

So now I guess "rights" can be forced on people? This is just getting better and better. So I guess if someone does not want to keep and bear arms we can fine them one thousand dollars? Not to mention nothing at all framed in the Constitution supports this kind of welfare.
Couple of towns have already done the mandatory gun rights thing. Gun Ownership Mandatory In Kennesaw, Georgia --- Crime Rate Plummets Cato Daily Dispatch for November 06, 2000 But unlike the current idiocy in D.C. this seems to be working as intended.

If you rounded it out with Tri-Care you are definitely set, I've heard some horror stories about VA only coverage.

I got the best health care money can buy, and I never have to step foot in a VA hospital... Im set brother!

Yeah I know the conservatives here will just blow this off, but what the heck...

The reason the WH is pushing for a bill is they are trying to NOT repeat the mistakes of 1993. Just ponder for a moment; $1.4 million a day is being spent right now on lobbyists seeking to derail reform.

Washington Post

Familiar Players in Health Bill Lobbying

The nation's largest insurers, hospitals and medical groups have hired more than 350 former government staff members and retired members of Congress in hopes of influencing their old bosses and colleagues, according to an analysis of lobbying disclosures and other records.

Now does anyone think that they have OUR interests in mind, or their own corporate interests?

FYI:
Poll: Most Back Public Health Care Option
A clear majority of Americans -- 72 percent -- support a government-sponsored health care plan to compete with private insurers, a new CBS News/New York Times poll finds. Most also think the government would do a better job than private industry at keeping down costs and believe that the government should guarantee health care for all Americans.

NBC News/Wall Street Journal Survey (PDF)
76% said it was "Extremely" or "Quite" important to give a choice of BOTH a public plan administered by the federal government, and a private plan for their health insurance

Bloomberg News
Most Americans Support Public Health Care Option, Poll Finds
Sixty-nine percent of Americans support creation of a government-run health plan to compete with private insurance companies, a new poll found.

In addition, 52 percent of those surveyed by Hamden, Connecticut-based Quinnipiac University said such a plan would keep the private insurance companies honest. Thirty-two percent disagreed. Twenty-six percent said they opposed a government-run insurance program. Some health-care overhaul plans proposed by Democrats in Congress would include a government-run plan, while Republicans are leading the fight against such a program.
