    Fighting ends Zimbabwe conference

BBC NEWS | Africa | Fighting ends Zimbabwe conference

Zimbabwe has abandoned a conference on a new constitution after fights broke out between rival delegations.

Supporters of President Robert Mugabe disrupted the meeting by dancing and singing revolutionary songs.

Some delegates walked out in protest, others threw water bottles. Riot police had to clear out the Harare venue.

Thousands of politicians and activists had joined the talks, which were intended as the start of a year of consultations on the issue.

A referendum is scheduled for a year's time and once a charter is in place, Zimbabwe is expected to have another attempt at holding a free and fair election.

Former opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai was sworn in as prime minister in a power-sharing government in February to end months of political deadlock following last year's disputed elections.
Really they just wanted a break to pay tribute to Michael Jackson, but you know how the media is, they just blow everything out of porportion!

Seriously though, we do not get to discuss Africa much folks, so thoughts?

They elected a socialist thug to be their leader, they got what they asked for.

    Their problem, not ours.

Mugabe hasn't been elected to anything in years. You don't really believe his moronic claims that he won the last election, do you?

Often leaders start out with honest intentions unfortunately they often end up as despised dictators.

Mugabe has been indicted by the Hague, and if he can ever be captured will be tried. So I would hardly call him an elected official.

Then the Hague needs to send some Hague cops down to arrest Mugabe.

    Not an American problem, period.

Leaders who promise socialism aren't honest.

    Their problem, not ours.

If the Hague's indicted him, let the Hague arrest him.

So you believe that anyone who gets elected to anything at any point in their lives has the right to stay in that office as long as they want and murder political opponents?

Who said anything about the US policing Zimbabwe? As far as I can tell you are the first one to bring up policing the world in this thread.

If it's not your problem, then why are you in this thread in the first place?
