You asked me to support my assertions, I used historical data and made the comparisons. The U.S. is using up it's resources and relies on foreign nations for energy. Just as the Romans.

The U.S. exports less and less goods, with trade surplus from China. Just as Rome.

We possess the most expensive military in the world. Just as Rome.

GOP tax codes favor the wealthy and shift the burden to the Middle, consumer class. Just as Rome.

Economic recession in the U.S., coupled with ever increasing debt. Same as Rome.

Now, you have straight comparisons and I am sure you still have no answers other than, "This is nonsense." Why? Because you LOSE. Chow!
 
So What the CIA has mislead Congress, Here is a very large FACT CONGRESS as Hold has mislead the American Pubic since oh I don't know for the last 40+ Years they have no leg to stand on when it comes to making outlandish charges against the CIA.

I rather have the CIA misleading Congress and day of the year and twice on Sunday if I know it's going to keep Americans alive and safe. Congress needs to just just up and try doing the job they were elected to do and let the President worry about what the CIA is doing.

Personally I think it's time for the Over-Site Committie and Gang of Eight be removed for any contact with the CIA/NSC/NSA/DOD and FBI they should only report to the Office of the President this would save allot of time and on going BS that we have scene over the many years.

When the CIA is running a secret program that the director of the CIA doesn't learn about until 6 months into the job, that's a problem. The CIA is not in the business of "keeping us safe", they are in the business of preserving the CIA.
Who knows what the secret program was that Panetta just found out about? Possibly it is the fact that the intelligence that formed the justification for the Iraq war was all phony.

AS long as congress has oversight responsibilities over the CIA, then it needs to get accurate and complete information from the CIA.

Hey here is a secret they have been doing this since 1947, I rather have them running this programs any day of the week. As for preserving the CIA thats fine with me.

Leon Panetta is a political appointee in an organization that needs to be as far away from politics as possible. I am disappointed and somewhat angered that President Obama would appoint a man like Panetta, who has no experience other than to sit on an intel committee as a politician, over a man like General Michael Hayden, who has 40+ years experience in every intelligence organization within our government. Of course, Panetta is now showing why he is where he is. He's doing his "job".

No it's not attacking the messenger Dir. Panetta is a political appointment who has no background in the Intel. and should never have been made Director of the CIA, he was outspoken critic of the CIA when he was part of the Clinton Admin.

As for the CIA misleading Congress like I said who give a crap they(Congress) has been misleading the American Public for as long as the CIA has been around.

Perhaps you should read between the lines rather than oversimplifying a point that is very simple to begin with. Pelosi is not goiing to take a fall for this. That is why Panetta is in the position he is in. He will make sure of it. I have worked in the intel field for a good bit now and I can tell you that these charges are outlandish to say the least.

Let's use Occum's Razor here for a second.

Which is the simplest explanation for this scenario:

1) The CIA decides to lie in a Top Secret brief about using techniques that had already been approved by the President.

2) A former Democratic Senator who has no earthly business holding the position he's in releases a statement to cover the ass of the second most powerful person of the party which he has supported over the last 2 decades.


This isn't complicated.

Really I know a lot of folks who work with0in the Intel Field who post stuff on public forums. Beside he hasn't violated any classified items he would have signed nor have I come to think of it since we have covered this once before.

We who have work in the Intel Field know very well what we can and can't say, we also know what can happen to us if we do reveal Classified items.

What he posted is the truth Speaker Pelosi has made bold statements to date that she hasn't provided any proof. And as I have said the CIA misleading Congress yea maybe but Congress has been misleading the American People for just as long.

Really? And what exactly do I do? What is my job? Do you have any idea how many jobs there are in the intel field? There are jobs in the intel field that don't even deal with classified material.

WASHINGTON – Former Vice President Dick Cheney directed the CIA eight years ago not to inform Congress about a nascent counterterrorism program that CIA Director Leon Panetta terminated in June, officials with direct knowledge of the matter said Saturday.

Subsequent CIA directors did not inform Congress because the intelligence-gathering effort had not developed to the point that they believed merited a congressional briefing, said a former intelligence official and another government official familiar with Panetta's June 24 briefing to the House and Senate Intelligence committees.

Panetta did not agree.

Upon learning of the program June 23 from within the CIA, Panetta terminated it and the next day called an emergency meeting with the House and Senate Intelligence committees to inform them of the program and that it was canceled.

I think both sides need to cool the partisan hackery until we know more about this. There simply isn't enough information here to take it as gospel or to dismiss it completely. Personally, I will be interested to see how the investigations progress. If it is true, everyone, regardless of political leaning should be thoroughly outraged. It's sad that the hyper-partisan hacks on both sides are, in true "business as usual" form, using this story as yet another excuse to attack the other side with the same tired talking points.
