Here's a good example. Congress is supposed to work for the people right? Does it? No. Does the president? No.

Are corporations concerned about their fellow man? Nope, they are concerned with what can pass legally while they make a profit and skirt that line as closely as they can. If it helps man and they make a profit, they consider that good. But profits are what concerns them.

Is the media, left or right concerned about man? No, they are concerned about viewers and how to get them.

You're absolutely right I have very little faith in man in this day and age.

    Next question?

EDIT: I think if there was a snowballs chance in hell of corporations overturning every employees right's bill that has ever been passed, we would have underage under min wage people working in a feudal system right now.
Walmart was the first one to get truckloads of water and supplies down to New Orleans.

You may disagree with many of the things I agree with, and that's fine, but yes regulation is necessary.

we disagree on what needs to be regulated and how much. Again, that is fine.

We have regulations saying we can't have corporations testing on children or other people.

    Wake up!

We have regulations saying you can't have sex with 10 year olds.

Yes, we have regulations. You're world, is that there are no government regulations and the people do what they are supposed to. That is Utopia and a fantasy world.

Who gets to decide the definition of "the right thing"?

The right thing I need to do is make sure me and mine get fat and happy.

Since I have absolutely zero responsibility for others, it's wrong to compel me to provide for them. It's so wrong, in fact, that guns are needed to make it happen.

Since your definition of "the right thing" requires that greedy strangers wave their guns in my face, threaten me with jail, and otherwise endanger me, there's something wrong with your world view.

    Sooo?

Does that mean Wal-Mart is EVERYWHERE? Where is Wal-Mart with the average homeless people on the streets? Or the ones that just got layed off and have noway to pay their bills?

Can you say, they got a PR Pump by doing that in New Orleans?

I didn't say corporations don't try to cash out on PR with BIG disasters, but where is Wal-Mart with the average homeless guy starving?

Boy have you bought into the corporate PR.

In my world, very few things are forced on people, and never because I hold so much contempt for my fellow man as you do.

........and I never open debates by telling people if they don't like it to leave.

There we agree. But what things are forced on people we disagree on. It's not that I hold contempt, I know what completely free corporations would do and that's history my friend. There is a reason why we had to reign in corporations from putting child labor and testing on humans as well as slave labor and feudalism. It's history.

Hey I'm just saying if you feel so oppressed and forced, you are free to visit some of the other more free countries out there.

You are the one with the melodrama, I only followed your lead for suggestions

I've personally seen families benefited from welfare. Families that took the help and then got back on their feet. I've personally been injured and taken workman's comp and gotten back on my feet. I've seen families personally go on welfare for a couple of months, get work and then go off it back on their feet.

It's not buying into it, it does work. You want to eliminate it all.

If you want welfare, unemployment or whatever reform to keep people being on it for 3 generations, I am all for it. But to say we need to get rid of it entirely I call BS. I've seen the good it can do.

How 'bout we not kill all those jobs and then worry about the folks who can't work?

So, instead, we'll make sure that nobody has anything and depends on the government. So much for the right to life, liberty and persuit of happiness.
