I said nothing of attacking. But doing nothing, and waiting to do nothing, is not the right answer either. He is for all purposes emboldening this madman.

As I have stated earlier, North Korea does pose some threat to our allies (South Korea and Japan), but we must be careful in how we approach this. I say be ready for anything, and if the DPRK attacks either ally, we torch the place. If Jong-il is simply saber rattling, then we watch and wait until we must act. Pre-emptive war is not going to be the answer as we have already learned, but to be ready and respond to transgressions with extreme force can never be faulted.

What do you suggest, he could do as McCain and Bush during the Georgian/Russian conflict, and say "bad," but that is really not doing anything is it?

My thought is, lets send him a little warning, and when he launches his ballistic missile next week or whenever, we shoot it down.

    Sit around and show "concern"?
It was a reasonable enough question. If your critiquing Obama on the basis of a lack of action then you should state what he should have done.

I believe bombing--conventionally--the launch pad in NK that the missile was launched from would send a helluva message; kill a few people on the ground.

Send them the message: "You can't reach out and touch us, but we can damn sure reach out and touch you...think about it."

NK I believe is just using a diversion tactic. They wish to make money off their technology. So they threaten war to give them a little room to work with. The US and allies wont so easily takeover their ships because of the threat of war. But I believe the military to be up on it. It will be to politicians who engage in inaction.

But also I believe NK is a threat to the united states. Not only that an immediate threat. Because they are only getting better in the field of technology so its only a matter of time. We should be focused on such attacks in the future because they could hold aces when its thought that they are bluffing.

Well your question was based on your strawman, but......

Increase sanctions, demand the release of the American prisoners (did he do that? if not he is a disgrace)...... come out with a spine in response here.

I'd also move the navy in very very close. I would set targets on all thier infrastructure, and send a strong message that the US will not play ball.

Problem being that they can touch you in South Korea

It would be pretty difficult to increase sanctions without disscussing it first.
