Re: NKorea threatens US; world anticipates missile

Dr. Obama might not be ready, but I believe the United States Military to be ready.

Any military action by N. Korea, to me, will be like that beginning scene of the movie Troy. Where Achilles rushes the target and the guy throws a javelin, just to have it swatted away and then to be stabbed in the neck.

I do not think that N. Korea is suicidal enough to throw a javelin against us.

No, they won't. I can assure you of that.

What about a warhead on a boat? What about attacking the s. penninsula where 30k Americans are stationed. This is what worries me.
Yes, and that is exactly what Kim Jong Ill will do.

He is a dictator and he needs to be stopped.

Kim Jong and his family need to be diposed as peacefully as possible. The main problem is that dictators rarely go peacefully.

It's more likely that his government will have to be crushed.

It's sad ... but it's the most probable of all available options.

Yes, Bush, McCain, came out with a strong response. Obama expressed concern for both sides.

In any case, I don't know why so many people live their lives in fear all of the time. "I'm afraid of Obama." "I'm afraid of terrorists." "I'm afraid of Muslim extremists." Most of the people worrying about it live in America. Nothing's going to happen here. And if something does, why wouldn't Obama go to war with North Korea? I don't exactly see him stopping the war in Afghanistan.

Who are you talking about, and what orifice is doing the speaking for you?

Some would say that we would be better prepared to fight a war with North Korea if we didn't go into Iraq for no reason. Others say today that we are better prepared to fight a war with North Korea because 1) Nobody likes them and 2) We actually have allies who are willing to fight with us now.

What do you think of Obama's reaction thus far, and what do you think needs to be the response from the US.

I think, just Like Obama on Iran, On Georgia, he will be too little too late, and if, God forbid IF, N. Korea is not simply sabre ratting, Obama wont go from "concerned" to "appalled" fast enough to save American lives, whether these are the lives of Hawaiians, or the troops in S. korea.

This has nothing to do with "partisanism" this is a real and genuine concern for me. The pieces are in place for a disaster, and my opinion that Obama is hesitant to take a stand on international affairs, in this case, may end up getting Americans killed.
Georgia? your blaming Obama for a conflict that occured before he was in office? Anyhow claiming that Obama has been doing to little to late surgests there was some viable option that he could have persued. What was this?

Strawman, I never made this argument.

The Argument I did make is that Obama is slow to take a stand. These were examples.

Rev, I understand your frustration, but the U.S. is no longer in the position to simply attack anyone that we do not agree with. Fighting wars in Afghanistan and Iraq are leaving us spread thin. The situation in Iran, while hopeful and tragic, must be an Iranian event, otherwise we are creating their democracy, not them.

As I have stated earlier, North Korea does pose some threat to our allies (South Korea and Japan), but we must be careful in how we approach this. I say be ready for anything, and if the DPRK attacks either ally, we torch the place. If Jong-il is simply saber rattling, then we watch and wait until we must act. Pre-emptive war is not going to be the answer as we have already learned, but to be ready and respond to transgressions with extreme force can never be faulted.
