South Carolina Governor Admits to Extramarital Affair (title updated)

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

Lots of speculation in this thread, mostly with very little if any basis, some of it rather malicious.

Until there are some significant facts, we don't know anything.

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

It's worth noting that there's a significant difference between not knowing where someone is and knowing that you don't know exactly where someone is.

His wife said that she knew he was taking off for a few days to go hiking and do some writing/reading, and was turning off his phone, etc. The fact that she's not tweaking out about it indicates that it's not yet an earth-shattering issue.

Bad judgment by the governor? Maybe. But it's also worth remembering that 99% of the "concern" being expressed by people like the Lt. Gov. has nothing to do with concern and everything to do with seizing a perceived political opportunity.

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

oh stop your whining just because you need only one post to spiral into Partisan Hackery LOL

HUH?

Go back and re-read post #2.

Thank you.

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

Now they're saying he took a hike on the Appalachian trail.

Im missing the point....

People go hiking on the Appalachian trails all the time.

What are you getting at and do you have any evidence or are you just a flame baiting troll?

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

It looks beautiful on that trail, is camping allowed?

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

My state just incarcerates their Governors. :3oops:

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

I just figured out where he is, who he is with, and why he has "disappeared".

He is in Alaska with Palin and they are having a salacious affair and they are holed up in an Igloo and from the opening in the Igloo they can see Russia and his Pet name for her is
“My Little Sweetie Eskimo Pie …. “

PS: I call her Igloo Girl but that’s me

This obsession is embarrasing, just stop now.

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

I think you hit the nail on the head Hypersabr...:rofl

I can see the title of book now "The Ice Princess meets Deputy Dog".

You too. It's not very becoming, it's becoming a borderline disorder.

Moderator's Warning:
Alright. There seems like there are a few people wanting to give ACTUAL contributions to the thread. Thank you. Those that just want to troll I'll be happy to give you a one way ticket OUT of this thread if you continue.

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

I think the point that everyone here is missing is that it's an issue of "responsibility." Being a governor isn't the same as being in Congress where you can vanish for weeks at a time and nobody would miss you. A governor is the chief executive of his or her state. You do NOT just head off to the hills with no way to contact you, nobody knowing where you are, no security, and your own wife doesn't even know how to find you. It doesn't matter if you are a Republican or a Democrat. It's called being RESPONSIBLE.

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

Actually coming light years to kidnap a Governor of SC is rather dumb.

Unless the governor is actually an alien who was sent here years ago to integrate into our species, rise up through our political system, and eventually take over the earth and enslave man kind.

They were going to take the President but when they got here an seen him at work decided more damage would be done by leaving him here!

You mean he is a Lizard overlord? Or perhaps a Martian Elder of Zion.

Re: SC governor's whereabouts unknown, even to wife

Okay, here's the latest word from South Carolina, where I live.

Per Miz Sanford and the gov's staff, he's out hiking, probably on the Appalachian trail. He's had a tough time for several months fighting with our Congress over the unfunded liabilities of the stimulus bill, and he wanted some time alone to depressurize and maybe write something.

They knew that was what he was doing all along, any dithering on their part was an attempt to protect Gov Sanford's privacy and keep the media from swarming out there to find him.

He supposedly has a phone with him, and has checked in a couple of times. There's nothing really going on right now in SC politics that requires his attention or the formal handing-over of power to the LtG.

You have to understand SC politics: there is ONE party in SC, and it is called "The Good Ol' Boy Network". You have to be of the right families, or know the right people, to join. It's a political and economic back-scratching network.

Amazingly enough we have a half-way decent State gov't anyway, most of the time.

Mark Sanford isn't part of the GOBNW. They've always hated him for that, and for his principled stands, and have tried to embarass him every half-a-chance they got.

There's SC politics in a nutshell.

For those being so harshly critical of his absence, I'd say that if this is the worst thing he does during his two terms as Gov then he's better than 48 other governors. Hey, I gave Obama a big pass for his at-taxpayer-expense travels and entertainments, at least our Gov is just out hiking...

I guess it's time to call a vote to have him removed from office.

If wanted his job, he would not have abandoned it.

It was Nude Hiking day on the Appalachian trail this weekend. True story that.

That remains to be established. Furthermore, there is a fresh news report that suggests that the Governor may not have been on the Appalachian Trail. From Greenville's WYFF News 4 TV station:

On Tuesday, sources told News 4's Nigel Robertson that a state vehicle is missing and was tracked down, not to the Appalachian Trail, but to the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta.

Sources told Robertson that a federal agent spotted Sanford in the airport boarding a plane. Robertson was told that the governor was not accompanied by security detail.

It's really amusing to see a rabid liberal doing everything possible to smear someone he dislikes by implying that they're gay.

The AT starts not far from Atlanta.

As I mentioned, the GOB (Good Ol Boys) would love to smear Sanford, wouldn't be surprised if they're feeding the press anything that can be given a spin that makes him look bad.

If there's something weird actually going on, it will come out eventually I'm sure.

I completely agree, and if you or anyone else had posted that, I would have laughed. I just think it's extra amusing when it's coming from someone who would have yelled about racism if someone had responded to a story about obama going to dinner with a picture of black people eating fried chicken.
