Sometimes your emotions literally do control your behavior--it's as if you cannot say no. It's all feelings and chemicals and rushes that culminate into love and good behavior takes such a back seat. Or it can.
Control behavior? Perhaps. I don't let my emotions control me, but it may be true with others. I can only speak about my own emotions.

But even if the emotions do control the behaviors, it never excuses them.

I know people believe the emails to be an egregious invasion of privacy (I do too) but it showed a human side of him, a vulnerable side... I think he fell in love with this woman.
I think that the e-mails being released is absolutely positively an eggregious violation of his privacy. I flat-out refuse to read them or learn details about them for that reason.

Oh and emotions are always relevant.
I strongly disagree. They may always be present, but they are not always relevant.

An example: Any logical discussion. Emotions are totally irrelevant to logic. They are, if anything, an impediment to logic.

And in this case, his emotions are irrelevant to his commitments. He had a commitment to behave a certain way with regards to his marriage. The fact that he allowed his emotions to interfere with that commitment doesn't matter. He still violated the commitment. Had he allowed his commitment to dictate his behaviors, instead of his emotions, he would not be in the mess that he's in right now.

His commitment included removing himself from the commitment BEFORE acting on his emotions. Therefore, the existence of the emotions is irrelevant. Bringing them up could only serve as an attempt to excuse the behaviors. They are not excusable on this basis since his commitment required him to remove himself form the commitment before engaging in those behaviors.

I agree. We can only hope that those who wish to see our President and his policies fail give him that same courtesy.

If you can post the statement I made where it shows that I said, "HE USED STATE FUNDS TO SEE HIS GIRLFRIEND WITH THERE BEING NO STATE REASON," post it, as I am 100% confident I would not have made such an allegation.
Well to suggest as some of your links and others have that its wrong for him to "use state funds to see his girlfriend" when he was there on state business or research and seeing his girlfriend was just a side bonus is dishonest.

    I agree.

I don't watch television and haven't been following this story, but I enjoyed this article on salon.com this morning.

Indeed. I severely hope people take it into consideration as well when comparing apples to the wonderous fruit oranges.

    Nice article.

I think it expresses alot of the same feeling I had watching the press conference.

But it is wrong for him to use state funds to see his girlfriend if that was his sole purpose. Hey, I'll set up a "state" issue and have it in Argentina so I can see my girlfriend. I have a problem with that. However, if he's going to Argentina for state business and he makes the time to see her, then that, on its face, is not unethical.

Caine, your obsession about this "state funds" issue is weird. You keep making it seem as though I said that he DEFINITELY and UNQUESTIONABLY took trips on state funds for the sole purpose of seeing his girlfriend. I haven't said that. I have pointed out that it has been suggested, and, if true, I think that's unethical. Clearly, in your eyes, people should discuss facts only after they do a thorough investigation of such facts.

You accused me of having to be right all the time. Please look in the mirror instead.
