And this was a "rising star" in the Republican party, being considered by the party for a run for the Presidency? How far the GOP has fallen.
Just because someone is a "rising star" doesn't mean their personal life individual actions are representative of the entire group.

If that were the case we can wonder how far the NFL has fallen after the Micheal Vick deal, and that other NFL player whose name escapes me that was drunk driving and killed a jaywalker.

Sure it does. Obama, because he was a democratic nominee in 2008, must have cheated on his wife with cancer.

Do as I say, not as I do!

Now, can I borrow $200 for a hooker?

And to think, this guy is on the GOP Governor's revival poster.

    This is ignorantly not true.

I absolutely agree. Revealing his personal email messages is over the top and totally unacceptable. The man has taken his (well-deserved) lumps and will suffer this embarrassment for the rest of his life. Posting his personal comments is unnecessary and tacky beyond belief.

So much for Republican family values.

    Again.

I still don't believe his story though. I think he was doing something else.

Do you think maybe he was in a bathroom stall somewhere doing the toe-tap special with a certain ex-senator from Idaho

Well, when I was watching Hardball last night, one of the guests on Matthews's show stated that there was evidence that some of the trips he took were paid by state funds, which Politico was going to announce. I didn't take the time to go check out that fact. But, I just did, and lo and behold: Some Mark Sanford trips were taxpayer-paid - Kenneth P. Vogel - POLITICO.com

I don't have a problem with stating something on here that later proves to be inaccurate and admitting that the fact I stated was wrong.

Re: South Carolina Governor Admits to Extramarital Affair

Sanford has consistently opposed any form of relationship recognition or even adoption rights for gay South Carolinians.

South Carolina governor Mark Sanford, who on Wednesday admitted to having an extramarital affair with a woman in Argentina, is also an outspoken advocate for "traditional marriage" who has consistently opposed any form of relationship recognition or adoption rights for gay South Carolinians.

As a U.S. representative, Sanford voted in 1999 to bar gays and lesbians in the District of Columbia from adopting. In 2002, while running for governor, Sanford answered to a survey question that marriage should be restricted to heterosexual couples, and that same-sex partnerships should not be recognized with a separate accommodation such as civil unions.

Last week Sanford told his staff that he would be hiking the Appalachian Trail, but it eventually emerged that he traveled to Argentina to be with his lover. He spent nearly a week in South America, including Father's Day, with the woman. "I spent the last five days of my life crying in Argentina," he said at a press conference today.

Sanford was one of a handful of hopefuls that some were eyeing to carry the Republican presidential ticket in the 2012 election. Others include governors Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, Sarah Palin of Alaska, and Tim Pawlenty of Minnesota.
So... he advocates traditional relationships... one man, one woman, I assume.

Not only does Sanford oppose same-sex marriage, he also opposes civil unions as well as gay adoptions.

Another upstanding politician caught ignoring the values he claims to represent.
