My post was intended as a good thing. When you give people the tongue lashing they deserve, you don't mess around.

I will say that I think Sanford is a scumbag. I don't know how much I would have cared if he lied to his wife. But he kept changing his story, and it makes him look like a douchebag. Come on, Sanford. You get all high and mighty about the federal spending bill but you're cheating on you wife?

Anyway, I feel so embarrassed for him about the posting of the e-mails. THAT is wrong, no matter how entertaining they are. I would be horrified if my personal e-mails were posted for all the world to see. Shame on the media who are posting them!

But it seems to me this guy wanted to get caught.

I just got home from work and am catching up on everything I missed but so far, this is where I'm at too. The guy wanted to get caught.

I would chat with her when I'm feeling particularly snarky, but I wouldn't ever call her on the phone.

Agreed on the scumbag part but that doesn't make his philosophy on the federal spending bill incorrect.
    From the ashes.

I don't think Sanford agrees with any of my politics, and I could personally care less about his personal life. However, I bet social Conservatives care about their candidates personal lives because of the morality factor. Thus, a pretty big difference in philosophy.
No, just pointing out that conservatives hold these supposed "values" conservatives to their word, whereas Clinton became more popular than ever with his actions in the "oral" office.

Clinton went on his definition of the word "is" tour, and liberals just lapped it up.

You are assuming one has any relation to the other. The real reason why Clinton was popular was because times where good. He was popular despite his affair, not because of it.

    Hardly the only one.

Do we remember Gary Condit's affair? Or Tim Mahoney, the guy that came in after Mark Foley and then admitted that he too ended up having an actual sexual relationship with a congressional aide turned staffer (but it wasn't a guy, so of course not as big of a story). Gavin Newsome, the Mayor of San Fran, with his affair? And ditto down the road in LA with Antonio Villaraigosa. Paul Patton, Kentucky's Dem governor and his mistress? Kwame Kilpatrick in Detroit with a few potential ones. The duo of "New" offenders, Jim McGreevey of New Jersey and Spizter of New York. Sam Adams, Mayor of Portland, with an 18 year old guy. Bob Wise of WVa having an affair with a state employee.

No, this isn't just a GOP thing...its a politician, or even a "human" thing, however it becomes a much bigger deal in the media when its a republican, especially a gay republican as you can see in the Foley case when compared to any press for Mahoney.

Oh, it definitely looks bad...but I also think a lot of it is trumped up (as you can see above). However, I don't buy the "party" as a hypocrite trap that many liberals (not you) try to put out there. How many republicans that have had this happen have been supported or mostly just ignored by the party? How many of them have came out and basically defended their action and the few that have how were they treated? Again, the parties platform is "you can't make mistakes". We tell our kids CONSTANTLY in our society to strive to be better than what we did or sometimes even do, yet I don't see liberals calling for parents to be hauled off while getting Child Services or calling them out to be on stage to be demonized for how they raise their children.

I agree with you though, unless there is an issue of public funds, it happening on the publics time, or happening with a subordinate or co-worker, I generally think it should not be nearly this kind of story regardless of the side. I feel bad for someone like McGreevy who was having to live that trying of a time in his life so publicly.

Is this kind of pointless hyper partisan hyperbole really needed or are you trying to **** up this thread like the hyperpartisans on the other side have been trying. There's some people that actually are attempting to have legitimate conversation, why don't you join us?

But, then you totally ignore posts such as these:

    I'm kinda sad.
Ensign and now Sanford were caught porking adult women.

The last three Republicans caught with their pants down were either blowing men in airport stalls, chasing young boys, or wearing diapers with hookers.

So this latest stuff is kinda boring unless it turns out Sanford was actually noodling underage midget trannies.

    ...fingers crossed.
    Oh, wait, you're both Liberals...nevermind.
