    Sounds like progress to me.
The 60's were about far more than drugs. While you and others may not agree with what people were fighting for, one can't ignore that it was a very powerful and revolutionary time. And what exactly did the 60's have to do with becoming a bum?

He just did a press conference, took full responsibility and didn't try to lecture anyone about what the definition of "is", is.....
But did you notice how he just had to throw in with his admissions that the added stresses of dealing with his states issues in reguards to turning down stimulas monies somehow played a role in his stresses and he got shut down. Which as he claims led to his great escape.

In my opinion that was just cop0ut-lame politcal statement. Why at this point throw that whining political trash in there?

Personally, I don't see why politicians are held to such an absurdly high standard in their personal lives. They are humans just like any of us and let me tell you that infidelity is quite common. I don't think that it affects his ability to lead any more than it did Edwards and Clinton. People enjoy sex and sexual taboos. Infidelity, while it is common is still a big taboo.

I'm kinda torn as to whether this is good or bad. For the short term, it will hurt the republicans in general. Not TOO much because they are already as unpopular as near possible, but in the long term, it narrows the field for the 2010 primaries. First ensign and now sanford. Depending on who runs in 2012, this could work in favor of the republicans.

    From your link:

    Republican Party
Since 1980, the Republican Party has used the issue of family values to attract socially conservative voters. While family values remains a rather vague concept, social conservatives usually understand the term to include some combination of the following principles (also referenced in the 2004 Republican Party platform):

Promotion of traditional marriage and opposition to adultery
    Opposition to same-sex marriage
Support for traditional education and parental involvement in that education
Support for policies that encourage "adoption over abortion"
Support for behavior identified as traditional or moral such as respect, discipline, attentiveness, religious commitment
Support for healthy choices such as a nutritious diet, medical screenings, and physical activity
Support for "abstinence education" exclusively regarding risks associated with early sexual activity such as teen pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases while not teaching such topics of sex education as human sexual behavior, safe sex and birth control.
Support for policies that are said to protect children from obscenity and exploitation.
You're right. Sanford trashed several of the major tenets of the Republican Party.

I hate to rain on your I Still Hate Bill Clinton party, but I'm fairly certain this thread has nothing whatsoever to do with former President Clinton. Do you have any further comments on Governor Sanford's unacceptable behavior?

I'm just wondering how the sex life of the Governor of South Carolina is any of my concern. Where is he? Who cares? What is he doing? Can't say I care. Who is he doing it with? Shrug.
Wow. Am I awesome or what?

Me too. The only time I get a laugh out of it is when they put themselves on that platform with their "family values" drivel. As Glinda pointed out, the hypocrisy screams out. If you are going to claim the moral highground you better be prepared for the backlash when you fail. But it's quite true their sex life is none of my business. However, I'll still laugh at people like Larry Craig.

True that. And it sure as hell does not affect my life.
