Her name was Neda - in death she is rallying cry for Iranian protests

"IF" it missed the heart... it's not a heart shot. The original post for the video states it's a heart shot.
Ok, let's just take this one sentence.

Do you know precisely where the heart is in the chest? Not just generally, but exactly, down to the millimeter.

Do you know precisely where the shooter aimed? Not just generally, but exactly, down to the millimeter.

What should be known is that the aortic arch is close to the heart...close enough that someone aiming for the heart could easily miss and sever the aorta.

Absent an autopsy showing a bullet wound to the cardiac muscle, just because someone says "heart shot" doesn't mean the bullet went into the heart itself....because absent an autopsy there's damn few ways to know with a certainty.

"Heart shot"....is probably what it looked like. That's not what it necessarily is.

I’m not going to try to guess/diagnose from …thousands of miles away if someone is staging for propaganda purposes butttt…

When someone is wounded, mortally, it’s not uncommon for them to focus on the brightest object around, in this case the camera, if it had a flash or whatever. Disclaimer, I didn’t view the video and have no desire to do so. I don’t know if the area was lit up, or not.

"The Dude" is a permanant example of a Movie character created who transcend the movie itself. Its an instant classic role and one he played as well as anyone could.

SO you know where you can take that anti-dude attitude!

Moderator's Warning:
There's a good deal of trolling, flaming, and baiting going on in this thread by a couple of people. Both need to end it and get back on the topic and discuss this without lobbying insults or acting like jerks.

cannot understand taking the risk of having a fake unmasked.

Would the opposition take a chance on a faked video being debunked?? I understand the motivation for sympathy based upon a killing of a young woman but I just cannot understand taking the risk of having a fake unmasked.

All freedom-loving Americans should support the Iranian people in their efforts to obtain freedom and democracy. I post this in green, in solidarity with the Iranian people!

NEDA was her name. Remember her.

Video of dead girl in Iran is fake
1. Frame: Girl is not bleeding, and she doesn't have any wound around head or neck: http://img197.imageshack.us/img197/9986/pic2twh.jpg

Nope but there is a enough to see it on their hands as she was shot in the chest. They were putting pressure on the wound as your supposed to.

2. Frame: Girl is watching camera, like saying"I'm ready for show"
http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/1262/pic4l.jpg

No, this is the woman losing consciousness and she never once watches the camera. Not once. Her eyes stay like that even as the camera moves to the south of her body.

3. Frame: Girl is still watching camera, and can you notice small plastic bag with red liquid in right hand of man standing above her: http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/3374/pic3dnx.jpg

There is no bag and the woman is unconscious. All I see is a red circle around a hand that is covered in blood.

4. Frame: Between 11-13 second of video, man is spilling red liquid on her face: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/3143/pic5axx.jpg

His hands are square on the woman's chest. There is no bag of blood or any kind of thing in the picture that would facilitate "spilling" anything. By far the most ridiculous of claims thus far.

5. Frame: Just few seconds after, her face is full of blood, and it's physically impossible to produce so much blood in such a short period of time: http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/5941/pic6afm.jpg

No its not. I've seen people bleed to death in a matter of seconds. Hush.

It is a fake propaganda video

LOL...

I'm sorry but I have to interject my opinion on this after reading the past 9 pages or so. This thread has been derailed so hard it's not even funny. This is about a Iranian woman DYING. I will not assume this is fake until evidence is presented that to me seems reasonable. I will assume it is real because I believe the evidence that has been shown is real. Yet TNE, MOON, VICC, and a couple others are just arguing "ARE YOU A VIDEO EXPERT"???! NO I AM NOT ! WELL YOU SAID YOU WERE?! NO I DIDNT YES YOU DID NO I DIDNT. BLA BLA BLA. Jesus christ people, I mean it was ok for 2 pages.. but by the time I got to like the 9th page every other post is just YES YOU DID SAY THAT? NO I DIDNT, YOUR TROLLINg, YOUR INSULTING, YOUR TAKING HIS SIDE WAH WAH WAH. GOd damn. I'm gonna find another post on this subject, can you people please not post on it so it doesn't turn into bull****. Thanks.

You are correct that crowd did turn this into a sham and a shame.

Re: Her name was Neda - The rallies in the US

Her name was Neda - At the rallies in the US held Sunady night some people were wearing T-shirts wil Neda and Remember Neda on they. The opposition would be foolish not to pick up and continue to memorialize her death for the casue of freedom.

Iran elections: Video of 'Angel of Freedom's' death will haunt the Iranian regime - Telegraph

To this day the regime has made the cult of martyrdom a prominent facet of daily life. Graphic drawings of Palestinian fighters - martyrs against the Zionist regime - are displayed on banners that hang off the capital’s tallest buildings.

Neda’s importance is that her death has vividly demonstrated how far the regime stands in violation of its own values. Its credibility is being destroyed with every call to remember her death.
The martyrdom of Neda, in a land that glorifies martyrs, is an incurable poison that will rot the heart of the Islamic Republic. She is the unimpeachable proof that the Islamic Republic has broken with Islam and with Shari'ah.

In time, Khamenei will come to be seen as worse than a dictator; he will be revealed as a heretic.

I haven't watched the video. I can't right now. After coming back from an intensely spiritual journey, my heart is too fragile right now. I don't know if I can handle watching another young woman die in protest of a brutal government.

I've been reading the tweets continuously. She was a beautiful young woman who many loved. What breaks my heart is her loved ones not being allowed to grieve for her properly. Even in the final sendoff, the repressive government is denying her and her family.

Am I the only one who has noticed that there are multiple, disagreeing:

1) Translations of Neda's name from Farsi to English
2) Accounts of who Neda was with when she arrived at the scene of her to-be death
3) Explanations for why she was there
4) Descriptions of what she said before she died

It seems to me like Neda is being made into whoever she's needed to be by whoever happens to be telling the story at the moment.

Neda isn't special any more than the other victims of the government-perpetrated and government-sponsored violence currently taking place. She's a pretty, photogenic face, but that's about all she's got on her fellow victims.

Just saying.

She also has the benefit of a better cameraman.

She's the Internet martyr of the Iranian protests, 2009, for the simple reason that it's hard to watch someone die for real.

Her death is no more tragic, no more dramatic, than any of the other dissident deaths in Iran. We remark on it more simply because we can see it. Her dying on camera is what makes her death a tragedy and not just a statistic.

Maybe I'm just an idiot, but I don't see Iranians pushing back any harder simply because of the death of this one woman. All of them have been touched by death or known someone else who has, they didn't need another martyr.

If anything, her death is being used as a rallying cry elsehwere in the world, and that is something that the people of Iran most assuredly do not need.

They don't. Every mother whose lost a son, every father whose lost a daughter, has all the martyrs they need.

Not so.

The Iranians definitely need that rallying cry. That rallying cry is what diminishes Khamenei in the eyes of the world. That rallying cry is what indicts the Islamic Republic in the eyes of the world. That rallying cry is what accuses Khamenei and not Mousavi's supporters of mohareb.

No nation exists in a vacuum. Iran needs the wider world. Iran needs the industry of the wider world. Iran needs the oil markets of the wider world. Iran craves the attention of the wider world. Iran desires the comity of the wider world.

Because of Neda, Iran will find that comity much harder to obtain.

Because of Neda, Khamenei is seen by most of the world as just another dictator.

Because of Neda, Khamenei is a cleric no longer.

Okay, CL, I see your point. My concern is that the fervor that the images of her death are generating will be used to justify a military action, and that's what I was thinking of when talking about what the Iranian people don't need.

It's going to take more than one pretty girl dying on YouTube to justify military action.

There is still a full quiver of diplomatic arrows that have to be expended before we send in the Marines.
