How do you feel about slavery legal at the time but morally?
You are trying to what? Draw a comparison between art work to slavery?
This is about the Elgin Marbles not slavery.

For me one of your comments in another thread sums you up, "I dont know who to vote for I just go into the booth and pick one"
Are you going off topic on my thread?

Aw such a shame, i so wanted you to to be the one to tell me seeing i was so sure you knew so much.

So go ahead and answer my post, i can't wait to find out the answer ...

Edit: We are going off topic.
    Back to the Marbles.

    Some history on it:
The Elgin Marbles are also known a the Parthenon Sculptures.

Between 1801 and 1805 Lord Elgin, the British ambassador to the Ottoman Empire of which Athens had been a part for some 350 years, acting with the full knowledge and permission of the Ottoman authorities, removed about half of the remaining sculptures from the fallen ruins and from the building itself. Lord Elgin was passionate about ancient Greek culture and transported the sculptures back to Britain. The arrival of the sculptures in London had a profound effect on the European public, regenerating interest in ancient Greek culture and influencing contemporary artistic trends. These sculptures were acquired from Lord Elgin by the British Museum in 1816 following a Parliamentary Select Committee enquiry which fully investigated and approved the legality of Lord Elginís actions. Since then the sculptures have all been on display to the public in the British Museum, free of entry charge.

It is my contention that the legality of the situation does not make it morally right, they should be returned

Expand on why morally they have that right then ....

And does that mean every other piece of art and jewels would have to be returned if the opposition claim it on moral grounds? How far are you willing to go? How far back will we go?
