What does a artwork that wants to be returned by British Museum in the time of the Holocaust have any relevance to Greece?
It shouldn't and will not give Greece any legal standing. It can have all the high moral ground, won't make a damn bit of difference in the courts.Lawyers for the museum argue that the case of art looted by the Nazis is highly exceptional and would not create a precedent.
Britain shouldn't have some of the artwork it has now, that is including the four 'old masters' but the Elgin Marbles is not one of them.
It was neither stolen, not coerced into being in our hands.
