Senate Backs Apology for Slavery

Guys I speak for myself and no one else.

The Jovial One forgive what looked like an attack on you, it was not. Your comments made me think about a huge number of people (left leaning mostly) who act like being black is some kind of handicap, I am pretty sick of it and was ranting.

We (blacks) as people and part of this country need to stand on our own two feet. Let us, Please.

So refreshing to read, but frustrating. I am fortunate to be able to work with and know many black people in my industry, and yours is actually a common opinion among many, many black people.

The media, however, don't give you much air time. Bad for their business, I suppose. People like The Jovial One prefer to ignore you altogether as well.

So ...exactly how many slaves does the current senate have and how long ago did they release them? Do sex slaves count? Do they being slaves to the lobbies count?

There should be an independent investigation immediately.

Wow, you sound like forum member Vader.

The same Africa which African 'Americans belong to, whoever that happens to be.

What exactly is an African American ? Egpyt, Morroco, Lybia, Algeria, and Kenya are all on the continent of Africa. So if an American traces his roots to Egypt or Lybia are they African-AMERICANS?

Kinda like the Latino term Nixon made up. Boy did that backfire.

 i know that. hence the "quotes". ;)

Great post!

Not even a little bit. Unless you believe that one wingnut Black man speaks for the entire population of African-Americans... which you probably do.

:bs:

Can you please show us what makes Blackdog a "wingnut" now?

:waiting:

PS: Dont try and slam the conservative side for not being inclusive, when you just practiced the very definition of: "not being inclusive".

Blackdog, you never should feel the need to explain the obvious. Let those who cant comprehend your post fall by the wayside. You can never help those people.

What you said in that previous comment was right on the money.

I would like to see that one myself. I admit I am right of center but I have many liberal views as well. Like the government aiding non-religious/religious organizations that help the less fortunate with our tax dollars. I have no problem with that.

"Wingnut" I don't think so.

Why does the government need to help the 'less fortunate' ? If the 'less fortunate' would get off their butts and get to work they wouldn't be "'less fortunate' and they wouldn't get my tax dollors. And I am feeling liberal today!

Sometimes less fortunate means got laid off, mentally ill or retarded, physical handicap or any number of legitimate reasons. Or they may just not have the earning potential.

Fact is not everyone can be in the middle to upper earning brackets. Sometimes they need a little help.

I don't care if some of the people abuse the system, it happens. If it just helps one person get back on the road to success then I am good.

Well, I for one am not. I do believe that the government should help those who cannot help themselves. I do not think that we should let people who don't work, because they have wellfare while having five children. It is not right for the taxpayer and it is not right for the children either. Our system is abused far too often and helps far too many people who don't even attempt to find jobs.

I am all for helping the handicapped, retarded, disabled, or temporarily laid-off as long as they are doing all they can to meet the tax payer half-way. Now obviously a disabled or handicapped person can't work and so I don't expect them to do much, but someone who got laid off should be pursuing work opportuinities.

As long as that person gets back on the road, but when tht person, then that person's kids, then grand-kids are recieving governmetn assistance, something is terribly wrong.

I was not talking about welfare. I was talking about the government helping not for profit non-religious/religious charity's.

I agree.

Guys read the whole thing before you jump to conclusions. This is off topic and has nothing to do with my statement.

I understand your point, but my point remains the same, no matter who the money is being funneled to, an NGO/charity, or a person.

I WAS THINKNG .. Have those peole who own Toyota and Honda and Sony and Misubishi ever apologize for the DAY THAT WILL LIVE IN INFAMY -- Pearl Habor ?

It's kind of hard to apologize when you bombed their whole cities down in retaliation, children and all.

I, for one, think this is a nice gesture. The sins of my father are the sins of my own. Now, if they only mean it.
