Re: Senate Backs Apology for Slavery

I'm not even going to look to see who the idiot Senators are. All I want to know is how many slaves the fools owned and when did they free them?
Are the obviously stupid jerks going to apologize for the bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. I'm sure the culpability level is the same.
Once again slaves were mostly collected by other black native Africans and then sold to whites. Even if your great great grand parents own slaves you can not apologize for what they did, it's meaningless BS. Only a fool could think it means anything. It's been over 100 years get over it. As to reparations they've been payed and over payed through welfare many times over. So sit down and shut up.

Just curious are you going to write to your two Senators and ask if they were present for the unanomous vote or not. It's that simple if they were pesent they voted for it.

I also wonder if anyone if going to write their Senators as ask why they voted for the appology.

    Is anyone going to write.
I do not recall the Viet Cong asking me if I was a natural born or Naturalized American before they shot at me, they just shot at all of us f107HyperSabr

Sadly I now am living the land that common sense deserted many years ago. You may know it as California, home the liberal Granola Party headed by Babrara the -B- Boxer, DiFi the "ugly" empty minded, and why not lie Nasty Piglousy. In their party what ain't fruits and nuts is flakes and this state now has them in spades. Writing to anyone in an elected office here is like talking to rocks except the rocks are smarter as a rule.

I generally support such a move because there is a general benefit from slavery just because they were used to build a country they had no rights in, but it seems an empty gesture. The only way for this to have any meaning would be for the richest, oldest families in the south to apologize because they are the only ones still benefiting directly from slavery. As they form the backbone of the southern republican party I think they would sooner die than say they are sorry, because they aren't.

Fascinating stuff here. Of course you can name these 'oldest, richest families', so the rest of us can be aware of who they are and who they control?

The sons of the confederacy would be a good place to start.

All of them were rich slave owners? You can't get more specific?

Actually states such as Rhode Island and to a much lesser dergree my state of Connecticut was involved in the slave trade so there were Northeners who benefitted from slavery also. I believe that Liberal bastion learning aka Brown Univerisity in RI was built with slave trade money.

The Northern cotton fabrick mills were rather happy to be able to buy raw material from the LAND OF COTTON and the mills knew about the slaeves but they just looked away, LOOKED AWAY Dixie Land.
