Age is really an irrelevant in this.

He was healthy enough and alert enough to remain a pilot.... he died from afaik a heartattack.

He could have been 25 and had the same thing occur.

Believe it or not, this man's fellow pilots are spitting on his grave in numerous postings. Why? Because when this pilot first got his job with Continental in 1983, he was hired during a strike as a replacement worker or, as union pilots call it, a scab. Using the phrase "once a scab always a scab", more than a few pilots are celebrating this pilot's death. It has resulted in accounts being banned at the airline pilots forum, threads being locked, and many members cancelling their membership. It really is sad that a man's career can be voided by a 27 year old union disagreement, and that professional pilots prove themselves to be as petty and vindictive as spoiled children.

That's the brainwashing of the unions. Union members are some of the most manipulated people you'll ever meet.

Can you imagine the passive hostility in any cockpit in which a crewmember is a "scab"? I had no idea pilots could be so petty.

Actually it wasn't touched at all in the first 5 posts. Shall I demand an apology?
