It won't be popular and will probably cost the president a second term, but he would save the union.
You would actually have to cut programs, employees and departments....not just programs.

    Ah, W. Hasn't changed a bit--He can still f-up a sentence better than anyone.

"I told you I'm not going to criticize my successor," he said. "I'll just tell you that there are people at Gitmo that will kill American people at a drop of a hat and I don't believe that -- persuasion isn't going to work. Therapy isn't going to cause terrorists to change their mind."
The highlight of his presidency, the time he was most presidential -- the transition.

No, I don't really mean that. Looking back, I get everything he was trying to do. He just got a lot of bad advice -- too many agendas in the West Wing -- many of which he was not aware of until the 2nd term.

What a hypocrite. This coming from the guy who said "I've abandoned free-market principles to save the free-market system."

At least what he's saying now is good. Hopefully his party will start following it.

He said nothing one would not expect him to say. And I was glad to see he is much more restrained than Cheney. I think Bush was the love-child of redneck America, he talks like a conservative, yet spends money like he just won the lottery. Speaks like one to.

    Wish he was still President.

    You're talking about Cheney, right?
