"He who does not think himself worth saving from poverty and ignorance by his own efforts, will hardly be thought worth the efforts of anybody else." -- Frederick Douglass, Self-Made Men (1872)
Ah, W. Hasn't changed a bit--He can still f-up a sentence better than anyone.
The highlight of his presidency, the time he was most presidential -- the transition."I told you I'm not going to criticize my successor," he said. "I'll just tell you that there are people at Gitmo that will kill American people at a drop of a hat and I don't believe that -- persuasion isn't going to work. Therapy isn't going to cause terrorists to change their mind."
No, I don't really mean that. Looking back, I get everything he was trying to do. He just got a lot of bad advice -- too many agendas in the West Wing -- many of which he was not aware of until the 2nd term.
Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false, and does not swear deceitfully. Psalm 24
"True law is right reason in agreement with nature . . . Whoever is disobedient is fleeing from himself and denying his human nature [and] will suffer the worst penalties . . ." - Cicero
He said nothing one would not expect him to say. And I was glad to see he is much more restrained than Cheney. I think Bush was the love-child of redneck America, he talks like a conservative, yet spends money like he just won the lottery. Speaks like one to.
Wish he was still President.
This nation desperately needs a real leader.
