Palin Dodges Talk of Running for Governor Again

Go back look at post #32 again.
That was a specific response to your, until proven otherwise, wild ascertions as to what Palin's qualifications are for bing reelected to the governorship NEXT YEAR.

Broad ascertions is what they were and still are.
Until you clarify them with facts.

Until then please stop trolling this thread unless you have something of substance to add.

thanks.

So still no particular exception with what I said and just a continued attempt to be obtuse and trollish. Thanks for clearing that up.

What the hell are you talking about Jall? Please reread the thread and you will see that I did take exception with everything that you claimed and asked you to show one single shred of proof that any of it is true..you can't.

FAILED.

Next.

I kinda like her though...cept for her being wrong on almost every issue.

Her collegiate career consists of a bunch of community college time and 5 years working towards a bachelors in journalism.

It would be nice not electing some ivy league lawyer for a change, but this seems like we went from lowering the bar, to dropping it completely.

The last thing the GOP needs right now is the one person that proved capable of completely keeping the idiocy glare off of Biden. That's quite an accomplishment in it's own right I suppose.

And I have repeatedly asked you to specify which issue you would like to tackle first.

Her state supreme court appointments, her increase of the state public safety, other infrastructure projects she has begun, renegotiation of the oil field leases (forcing the oil companies to either start drilling or give up the leases), her expansion of native incest and rape prevention and education measures.

I'm not sure why you haven't looked these things up yourself if you are so vested in the Alaska gubernatorial race.

1. What in your opinion makes her state supreme court appointments a quality to look for in reguards to being reelected?

2. How has any of her policies increased the public safety in Alaska. Is it because there hasn't been any attacks in Alaska since 9-11?

3. What if any infrastructure projects has she played any part in beginning during her reign?

4. How many oil companies have been forced to drill because of Palin's policies? How many have been forced to give up their leases because of Palin's policies?

5. How exactly has she expanded on Native incest and rape prevention?

6. What education measures?

Try those for starters.

How, if they exist, are they qualities that people should look for when choosing a future Gov. for the state of Alaska next year?

I will assume your list was prioritized so this is the specific one you want to discuss, for now.

Three specific points on this topic stand out to me, from her recent appointment of Morgen Christen:

First, she didn't buck the judicial council like Frank Murkowski had with lesser appointments. She didn't delay the appointment by rejecting all nominees and she chose to work within the Constitution. If anything, she snubbed the interest group that lobbied hardest to get their way about the appointment.

Second, she thoroughly vetted her pick before sending her on to confirmation. She showed a commitment to making an informed and independent decision.

And finally, she made her decision, not based on her personal opinions about abortion, but on who would best fill the position. Christen used to serve on the board of planned parenthood. That shows me she isn't guided by her personal views, but by the views of the Alaska state constitution.

Yes I did read up on this and yes she did appoint this person going against the anti abortion crowd after she ran a campaign that was stauchly pro-choice.
Did she do this for political reasons?

My list was not prioritized it as just listed in the order of issues that you laid out in your declaration of her acheivments.

 I love people who look to certificates to guage intelligence.

Palin's pipeline to nowwhere...

Palin?s Pipeline to Nowhere | Newsweek Periscope | Newsweek.com

The principal achievement of Sarah Palin's term as Alaska's governor, a natural-gas pipeline project backed by $500 million in state tax money, might never be built unless Canadian authorities can strike a deal with some of the country's angry Indian tribes. Approximately half of the proposed pipeline would run through Canada; native tribes who live along its route complain they haven't been consulted about it and are threatening to sue unless they are compensated. Representatives of the canadian tribes, known as First Nations, say Palin and other pipeline proponents are treating them with disrespect. The tribes' lawyers warn that the courts are on their side and say the Indians have the power to delay the pipeline for years—or even kill it entirely by filing endless lawsuits.

Why don't you use some up to date information. The article you quote is almost a year old. And... Newsweek is one of the most liberal publications out there. They love to take pot shots at Republicans.

Current news on the pipeline: ExxonMobile and TransCanada just announced a deal to build the pipeline. When built, 4.5 BILLION cu. ft. of gas will flow through it.

What's wrong? Don't you think this country should work toward energy independence???

Or are you more interested in drumming up trivial garbage on the governor?

I doubt she did it for political reasons. If anything, she shot herself in the foot politically by going against that "family values" group who contributed to her campaign. Also, if you look at her first pick which happened before she was ever tapped for VP, he wasn't all that conservative either and she had a longer list to choose from on that one that included one of the most conservative superior court judges in Alaska.

If anything, her picks for ASC have been independent or even liberal. That shows me she has a pretty strong independent streak, herself.

So which one do you want to tackle next?

That's true and it's false. Yes, the deal has been made and everyone is ready to move on it except the government of Canada. Alaska has its natives under control and actually favorable to the deal. Canada is still having issues with its natives being their typical whiney bitches about anything the white man wants to do. I think its time to disband reservations everywhere (alaska doesn't have reservations) and force assimilation into modern society.

I see no value in fostering primitive cultural practices for the benefit of a society that would have gone the way of the dodo were it not for the good graces of their conquerers. We ended segregation in this country during the civil rights era. It's time to get the natives on board.

Jall you talk about Natives as if they are cattle or something. Does Palin talk to them in this fashion also? Perhaps that why her pipeline is dead in the water.

Lets move on the #2 on the list.

2. How has any of her policies increased the public safety in Alaska and why should this be taken into voters account when considering her for reelection next year?

No, I think they are people just like anyone else. I also think that their time of handouts is over and that they need to get with the program. There cannot be a separate nation within this nation.

If they are unwilling to step into the role of a proper American, then sure, we can let them live on their little reservations with their seperate laws and such but we have no need to acknowledge their vote or give them any share of the taxes collected in this country. If their casinos can sustain them, by all means let them. But progress and industry should never be held up over some tribal claim to land.

As to your second point of contention...

Palin made it one of her key campaign points to expand public safety presence through the expanding the LEO budget by some 20%, she toughened enforcement of penalties against police officers who commit crimes while on duty (a serious problem in the state for a while), and she signed into law a range of bills that implemented DNA collection from felons, electronic monitoring of violent gang offenders (believe it or not, a serious issue in Anchorage).

Most notable, her pet bill, HB 265, implemented law that requires convicted sex offenders to stay current with their sex offender registration in order to maintain eligibility for the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend.

A list of her all her public safety expansion through 2009 can be found here.

And childish Igloo Girl moniker in 3...2...1...

Did anyone notice this wording "We need those energy sources flowing through North America. That's what my focus is." Is the " flowing through North America" mean that the oil will not "flow to" North American.

So much for the benefits of "drill baby drill !!"

Well the Igloo Girl would have to dig a hole to crawl under the bar.

We really should just make this a drinking game. Every time "Igloo Girl" get's said, take a shot. We have an excuse to get drunk and deal with the retardedness.

" a natural-gas pipeline project backed by $500 million in state tax money,"

I am shocked I tell you. I really though we would see better bahavior from The House of Igloo !!

What other money is she supposed to use? I mean, Alaska does own it.

Time to take a shot.

Yes you are right Jall they are people like everybody else. In fact they are the native people that were there before you or anybody else was imported there. They are not asking for handouts. They are asking for compensation for people taking this pipeline through THEIR lands. How about gay people just shut the hell up and get with the program and quit demanding equal rights? The role of a "proper American" is to just shut the hell up and accept anything that is being crammed down your thoat. Right? Here you say"But progress and industry should never be held up over some tribal claim to land."
I've got to say Jall that is some of the most pathetic drival i've read in a long time.

Are you claiming that in Alaska they were not collecting the DNA from felons prior to Palin's rule? Were they not doing electronic monitoring of felons prior to Palin's rule?

So what!! Sex offenders that don't check in don't collect a check. Anywhere else they go back to Prison..why is Palin wussing out on this issue?

Why is Alaska still the Meth capitol of the US?

Now on the #3.

3. What if any infrastructure projects has she played any part in beginning during her reign?

A good conservative would find private funds after all we don't want no socialist pipe line now do we !!!

What's your poison Knob Creek , Wild Turkey or Beam ? have a double it's on me , I only offer American made !!

By infrastructure projects do you mean that all shopping for free clothes she did during her run to ruin McCain chances doesn't count as an "infrastructure project".
