On the topic of the actual apology, I thought it was fine. He should've done that instead of the funny half-apology he originally did, but honestly, I blame the Palins for turning it into what it has become. If not for them blustering over it all week, most people would've forgotten about the joke 10 minutes after hearing it. People who didn't watch the show would probably never have heard about it at all. The Palins daughter(s) might never have heard it or been embarassed by it, their friends might never have heard it or teased them about it, and we would all be talking about something else right now.

Instead, because of the Palins making a big deal over it in the media, everyone has heard the joke multiple times, probably the Palins daughter(s) more than most, and they're probably incredibly embarassed by it.

Btw, whoever said Letterman was afraid of getting fired... :rofl

And, I think, through all of this, we have failed to ask one very important question at the heart of this issue, which is... where is Alex Rodriguez' apology?! Stadium boy deserves one too!

Exactly correct!! If the Igloo Girl had not made her little Ice Cubes a prop for her campaign they would not be in the floodlights as they are now.

Again that does not excuse Letterman for the poorly concieved joke but if the country hadn't known about Palin's kids there would not be a joke about them.

Look if you don't know that Igloos are no longer used by the Inuits you need to do some research. The name Igloo Girl was meant to poke fun at the Palin woman and I like most intelligent aware people know that Palin is not an Inuit. Yes I do know that her husband is part Native American or Inuit or smething but I do not call him anything because he is not famous so why make fun of him.

he name Igloo Girl is not racist, nor sexist, nor culturist, nor anything bad that you so dsperately want it to be.

I coined the name a long time ago and I will keep using it becuse I like to
and I think it's a form of sarcasm " satirical or ironic utterance designed to cut or give pain".

She is just as much a joke target as Bill and Hillary ever were.

Anything that moves? Even NOW got in on it. There's such a thing as crossing a line and nobody is going to want to take the chance with Palin's teenage daughters again. Everybody who hates Palin still hates Palin. Dave, on the other hand, has made lots of new enemies. He lost, she won.

Yes you are right her teenage daughter is off limits she herself and the daugther that is not a underaged teenager is not off limits. It doesn't matter how much Palin barks it doesn't change the fact the she's joke waiting to happen and people are going to joke about her and some may be crude.
I predict a Palin Joke barrage in the coming months. How on earth is she ever going to keep up with the snapping with performing her duties?
The Clintons went through 16 years of that and survived. Palin on the other hand has gone thru weeks of it and is making a total spectacle of herself.
