America's 'Bermuda solution' angers Britain

More a general comment. I am sure you all have done something to annoy the government, if just encouraging people to drive on the wrong side of the road.

By the way, driving on what feels the wrong side of the road is worse in a country that likes traffic circles...trust me on that.

Has Britain threatened US? [Obama threatened to withdraw intelligence if we did not hide the torture information]
Has our PM deliberately insulted your head of state and Government? [Which technically is your President i guess o_O]
Did Britain try and hide the fact potential terrorists may be released into US?

=/

Apologies are not the way to diplomatic success. Appeasements don't work either.

I think they keep trying this in order to set a precedent they can point to for eternity.

.

exactly defence is pretty much all they do.

True.
You know our home office Dave, you know how we deal with passports with our God forsaken Government.
Do you think if these exiles applied for passport they'd be denied? They'd be let in by the incompetent

I never claimed to have a specific complaint. I made what I intended as a general comment, which is that we(both the US and Britain) should not sweat petty crap, and I certainly do consider this petty crap. Now if you want to address what I actually saying, without trying to expand it, please do.
That was addressing it and not expanding it.

There is a specific gripe (and list of gripes) from the UK against Dear Leader's Administration. You dismiss it as "petty crap" and presumptively declare:
It goes both ways. I don't think we should sweat petty crap Britain does that might anger us either.

When challenged on said "petty crap"--you bail.

So, we have on Dear Leader's demerit list a string of bumblings towards Great Britain, and on Great Britain's demerit list we have a generic entry of "petty crap."

Dear Leader is punking our allies and kow-towing to our enemies...and you are ok with this?

Here, read this:

Those four words are important. Argue against what I say, don't go and expand it into something it is not.

Those four words mean squat. I read them the first time and they are as unimpressive now as they were then.

Excuse-making is not something that gets better with age.

Lol

The Government of Bermuda is facing a no confidence vote, the public are against taking in anybody.

What excuse making? My statement was clear with those four words. You expanded it into something it was not.

Why should they not have passports, or go anywhere they like? What part of INNOCENT marks these men as a threat? Shouldn't they be welcomed just for having survived Guantanamo? Nice avatar, BTW.

Thank you.

Well if they are innocent then i'm sure Americans would love to take them in.

US has more land than UK, one of your states is bigger than the entire UK and protectorates put together. You may take them.

I think it is ridiculous we were not informed that we would soon be protecting potential dangers and in fact US hid the information from UK and made back alley deals knowing full well it needs our permission as we control the defence

They sought terrorist training in Afghanistan.

They sought terrorist training in Afghanistan.

Nope.

If they had sought terrorist training, they would not be innocent. Jeez.:doh

Hey, I'm all for moving them to Chicago. I hear Bill Ayres has a big house, and there's this guy in Washington that has a house there he's not currently using.

We should definitely move these people to places where they're wanted, and where can they be loved more than in the home districts of the politicians that campaigned to let them go?

How about if the United States sets them adrift in rubber inner tubes just off the Bermudan coast?

They are "former terrorist suspects" because they were judged to be innocent...by the Bush administration. What is your problem with releasing innocent people?

The problem wasn't releasing them. The problem was that we trampled all over diplomatic process by breaching one of our ally's diplomatic arrangements without telling them.

Uighurs live in Afghanistan.
No, they live in China.

Which is why they hate the Chinese.

Which is why they were in Afghanistan, learning how to blow up the Chinese.

Which is why they are not a threat to the US--we are not the Chinese.

But they are still terrorists.

Which is why no civilized country wants them (except China, which has a lovely firing squad waiting for each and every one of them).

Which is why Bermuda and Palau had to be bribed to take them.

Which is why the Bermudan electorate is displeased with their government--terrorists don't accessorize well with the tourists and the tax evaders.
