I did this often as a kid. Not because it was fun but because we had an issue that the slugs would eat all kinds of crap in our gardens so my mom would make me go put salt on one when it would show up on the side walk.

Apparently Beer is also a typical thing used for gardens. Slugs are attracted to the smell so if you put some in a bowl in a garden the slug will generally climb in and end up drowning. We had to do this the other night when one had spent the past week eating every single leaf off of all the flowers in my girlfriends flowerbed.

They would come out all over the porch after it rained and my mom couldn't stand them. So a little salt and a broom and the problem was solved.

This is certainly an unpleasant spectacle, but why is the reality that other animals continue to be brutally slaughtered on a daily basis for the purpose of human consumption ignored if this is criticized? Such animals often possess sensory capacities similar to those of a cat, and thus an equivalent or greater capacity to suffer from their own imprisonments and eventual deaths. Do cats deserve some greater consideration because of their domestication and emotional partiality towards them on the part of humans? It seems far more ethically sound to make such determinations on the basis of the ability to suffer.

    Because they are pets.

I'd likely kill this kid if he did that to my pet(or at the very least kick the **** out of him to within an inch of his life-caught him in the act he'd be lucky to live)

I suspect they better move or he will either get the hell kicked out of him or he will be killed one day.

Kinda like those assholes who killed that former SEAL guys dog..they came within a heartbeats decision of all dying...and if they had IMO it would have been justified and deserved.

Yeah, that's what I just asked. Why does human emotional partiality make a difference when they have the same or a greater capacity to suffer?

True. And after that, I guess the only thing left for us to do would be solving the mystery of where such people as this guy could possibly develop violent inclinations.

They are much tastier than cats.

I would have no problems if this dude was killing cats for food though.

Uh...because these pets belonged to other people and deserved consideration based on their worth to those families. I dunno, maybe that's it.
