I know he was fired for being too conservative in a state that is ridiculously conservative. And that was my point. If a state full of raving conservative ditto-heads thought this guy was too extreme.....chances are the rest of us would agree.

You don't know that. Has the school stated that as the reason he was fired?

No, the story only says what HE claimed they fired him for.
No info was given as to the schools side of the story, it was all claims and statements from the teacher. And a school official basically saying "I'm not allowed to say anything except that we followed procedure".

....this is Kansas...it's not like this is California or New York where I'd buy that his 'conservative' views might have been outside of the mainstream. But it makes me wonder. Just what exactly was so conservative about his views? Which views got him fired?

Oh, so then you really know about as much as everyone else. Which is nothing.

Not at all. Especially considering he used the transcript of the speech as a discussion topic. And he stated that the class would be let out before the show ended. Seems legitimate to me that he would have skipped watching a little television in favor of real classwork.

Well, according to the teacher, one of the reasons was because he didn't have his students watch Pres. Obama's inauguration during class. The teacher stated it started 15 mins before class end, and the students would have left without seeing it all. Further, he stated that he had his students read the speech and discuss it in part and in full.

But, these are all claims, as far as I am aware, so no one knows why he was fired.

He DID discuss it. He printed Obama's speach off and discussed and examined it with the kids. Read the article.
