Saudi 'Killer Chip' Implant Would Track, Eliminate Undesirables

Imagine planting a GPS chip inside of someone, and being able to not only track his or her whereabouts, but to cause that person's death, if one so desired, by having the chip release a fatal dose of cyanide inside his body. A Saudi inventor has invented just that, and filed a patent with the patent office in Germany.

Every day, the world gets just a little bit creepier. Of course, if you are a law abiding citizen residing in any nation that eventually uses that chip, you have nothing to be afraid of, right? Just keep your thoughts to yourself, and everything will be fine.

BTW, the device is great for those nagging mothers-in-law.

    Article is here.

This device is useful for people who are on probation. Death is a great incentive to not leave your boundary area.

Mostly though, I see huge abuse potential with this: implanting someone and then making them your slave, so long as the person desires to live. I would like to hear the inventor's rationale for creating such a device.

While the device maybe "useful", it is by no means reasonable. Also, failure modes on the chip could have awful results. I doubt it's been tested well for durability, leakage, failure rates, etc.

I would support such a device only if was used on convicted child molesters. They are the worst kind of repeat offender.
Sen. Clare McCaskill (D-MO) said on Wednesday that Joe Biden "has a tendency to talk forever and sometimes say things that are kind of stupid." She seemed to regret her own words, saying, "I was probably having a Joe Biden moment myself."

    The ultimate prenuptial agreement.
The haggardness of poverty is everywhere seen contrasted with the sleekness of wealth, the exhorted labor of some compensating for the idleness of others, wretched hovels by the side of stately colonnades, the rags of indigence blended with the ensigns of opulence; in a word, the most useless profusion in the midst of the most urgent wants.Jean-Baptiste Say

I'm surprised Bush and the neocons didn't think of this first.

This is very frightening in a very real ways. The chip alone is the greatest possible threat to privacy without the killer factor.
