Toddler Has Same IQ Score as Stephen Hawking

Toddler Has Same IQ Score as Stephen Hawking - Science News | Science & Technology | Technology News - FOXNews.com

She's 2. She plays with dolls and draws with chalk. And apparently, she's one of the smartest people in Britain.

Karina Oakley of Guildford, Surrey, near London, has an IQ of 160 the same as physics professor Stephen Hawking and Microsoft founder Bill Gates, London's Daily Mail reports.

A truly amazing story, I have never heard of anything like this in my life.
"I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country." -Jefferson

I'm just shocked to learn that Bill Gates has the same IQ score as Stephen Hawking. What about Vista?

Man. Her expectations now exceed her height; a horrible deficit.

IQ scores are derived by evaluating how well a subject does compared to others of his or her own age. A perfect age match would result in an "average" score of 100, while a 6-year-old who had the same results as an average 9-year-old would score 150, or "genius" level.

Sort of takes the amazement out of it doesn't it.

You're trying to tell me she cannot come up with the Multi-Universe theories?

    You, sir, are no fun.

Re: Toddler Has Same IQ Score as Stephen Hawking

Sometimes these IQ scores are just too ridiculous. What's more ridiculous is the test itself, especially for children. The context of it all is just too detached. The reference to the 160 and Hawking are totally put out of context and just feeds into the misinformation about IQ testing.

I mean, there really isn't much to test for a 2 year old. The article cited that the toddler was more "imaginative" in her responses. Well, gee-wilikers! A kid who is imaginative, I've never seen that BEFORE!!

The bottom-line is that IQ test doesn't really measure intelligence. It measures what we think and what we expect are signs of intelligence. A two year old excelling at imagination is what we expect any 2 year old to do. Similarly, a child who is 3 or 4 is rapidly learning language and grammatical rules. This isn't intelligence. It's what we expect, in this specific culture.
