NKorea steps up rhetoric amid nuclear crisis

North Korea said Tuesday it would use nuclear weapons in a "merciless offensive" if provoked its latest rhetoric apparently aimed at deterring any international punishment for its recent atomic test blast.
So North Korea is threatening to use nuclear weapons? Let them try. If they do try it, it will be interesting to see what travel brochures will look like 100 years from now:

"Come visit the enchanted land of North Korea, known as the Land of Glass".

    Article is here.

I'm not sure people will be allowed to visit NK 100 years from now.
Not without radiation suits that is.

Somehow I don't find jokes about the massacre of 23,000,000 people (mostly civilians) that funny.

And yet, there wil be those that will argue that the US should -not- respond to a NK nuclear strike on, say, Japan or South Korea -- especially if that response involves nuclear weapons.

And your proof of that statement is what? I know of noone that wouldn't backup a response if NK used nuclear weapons. It may not be nuclear but it would be a response that would make sure NK doesn't exist in the form it does now.

The real joke right now is how bitter conservatives have become and why it will be a long time before they come back into power.

I wonder if NK is the "test" that Biden predicted.
If so... better stock up on those iodine pills.

    Nobody asked you to laugh.

In the case where a North Korean nuke goes loose, however, this joke can and will probably become the reality.

Re: NKorea steps up rhetoric amid nuclear crisis

In the past, North Korea's antics would reliably lead to fresh international concessions. In turn, North Korea could package and repackage its earlier commitments to make additional gains.

This time around, North Korea's provocations have not yielded fresh international concessions. So, North Korea is acting in an even more provocative fashion.

The world needs to remain calm and collected. It needs to avoid making new concessions to North Korea. Instead, it should tighten pressure and insist that North Korea fulfill its earlier obligations. Only when North Korea finds that its provocations no longer lead to rewards will it have an incentive to behave in a more constructive fashion.
