Actor David Carradine found dead in Bangkok

Oh dear. Seems it may have beeb a sexual adventure gone wrong.

BANGKOK – The body of American actor David Carradine, best known for the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu," was found in a hotel room closet with a rope tied to his neck and genitals, and his death may have been accidental suffocation, Thai police said Friday.

The 72-year-old actor's body was discovered Thursday in his luxury suite at Bangkok's Swissotel Nai Lert Park Hotel. Police initially said they suspected suicide, though Carradine's associates had questioned that theory.

Police Lt. Gen. Worapong Chewprecha told reporters that Carradine was found with a rope "tied around his penis and another rope around his neck."

"The two ropes were tied together," he said. "It is unclear whether he committed suicide or not or he died of suffocation or heart failure due to an orgasm."

Guys, please don't tie a rope around your neck and penis. Thanks! :2wave:

Oh man. In some ways I would be happy if it wasn't suicide, but I guess when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter. Dead is dead.

But this is what we're going to remember about him. A bad joke. (sigh)

Oh well, RIP. I think I was surprised when I found out he was 72--and working on a movie when it happened.

His genitals were also tied up and that does not jive with suicide. Sounds like a sex murder to me. Bankok is the haven for sexual deraliction.

Very first reports from Fox were saying it was an accident. And then everybody was saying it was suicide.

I think the reason they were saying it was an accident is because a friend said he was really in a happy state lately.

hope it doesn't turn out to be what INXS singer did

Autoerotic asfixiation (I KNOW I didn't spell that right) was what I was hearing speculated about yesterday and it seems like it may actually be what it was. Too bad, a good actor and as already said someone that brought a number of people in a generation into the Martial Arts.

If that's true, that's a pretty embarrassing way to die. I'd want people to think it was suicide too.

The guy was 72, WTF was he thinking? :2razz: I guess he needed some release. :doh

On NPR yesterday they said when cast for the Kung Fu role he did not know anything about martial arts.

He was the first star I ever saw in person when I moved to L.A. many moons ago.

R.I.P.

This quote is from 2004.

"There isn't anything that Anthony Hopkins or Clint Eastwood or Sean Connery or any of those old guys are doing that I couldn't do," he said. "All that was ever required was somebody with Quentin's courage to take and put me in the spotlight."

In the 2004 interview, Carradine talked candidly about his past boozing and narcotics use, but said he had put all that behind him and stuck to coffee and cigarettes.

"You're probably witnessing the last time I will ever answer those questions," Carradine said. "Because this is a regeneration. It is a renaissance. It is the start of a new career for me.

"It's time to do nothing but look forward."

Sad. :(

I think Bruce Lee was suppose to initially get the part, but he was doing Green Hornet or something.

That is correct. The fact is that once you've trained in martial arts for a while, if you watch an old Kung-Fu episode it becomes painfully obvious that Carradine didn't know any martial arts worth mentioning at the time.

Depending on who you believe, Bruce Lee wanted the role very badly, but didn't get it due to Hollywood's prejudice against Asians at the time.

One of the experts on tv said that 1,000 people a year die of this and that it is most common in teenage boys and the elderly.

Rest in peace, David Carradine!

Poor bastard.

72 years young too.

He died while masturbating. What a way to go, ... I wonder if he died with a smile on his face? What a shame if he didn't make it to the end.

There is something fishy about this whole thing because reports have came out saying his hands were tied around his back. No way he died while masterbating. :(

If these reports are true about his hands behind back? It was indeed a sex game gone wrong.

My friend's father who works in the film industry was a good friend of David Carradine. I was fortunate to meet him one summer when I went over to her house. On the back porch they were drinking beer and enjoying the sun. He introduced himself to me as "Dave" and I pretending that it was the first time I had ever seen him. (In reality, I was going "omg omg omg!" inside).

My friend's dad later told me that he had a hardcore drinking problem, and he also did coke from time to time. Wouldn't surprise me really... he struck me as the type.

I guess he felt his career was over.

This may have already been said but he was there working on a movie so doubt he felt as if his career was over:(

I only read his neck and genitals were bound, not his hands ... hence the "auto-erotic" interpretation. If his hands were bound behind his back, they would have immediately made the call of foul-play rather than self-play.
