Among the booths at the Showcase for Commerce was one from Kuchera Industries, a company with longstanding ties to Murtha. FBI agents raided the company's Johnstown offices in January, reportedly on suspicion that it had misused government money for some events it held.

The company also has suspended from doing business with the Navy for alleged fraud, including what a Navy spokesman described as "defective pricing."

Asked to comment at the trade show, a top company official wouldn't speak with CNN.

An attorney for Kuchera, Dennis McGlynn, released a statement: "We are in the process of appealing the suspension by the Department of the Navy, and we believe that after we present our reply, the suspension will be lifted."

Murtha helped Kuchera get more than $9 million in earmarks last year and has received more than $89,000 in campaign contributions from its employees and their family members.

Well he's not accused of any wrongdoing yet, however, knowing this scumbags past (Abscam) I won't be a bit surprised if his hands are dirty in this.

Investigate and prosecute the guilty. Corruption is bipartisan, and I hope we can remove politics from considerations of who to investigate and charge.

    Very true.

However, one should also observe closely to see how each (and every) party responds to verified corruption in its midst. I allow for a stand-off approach during investigations since they may also be corrupt. (Ex. Ted Stevens.)

Murtha is dirty. Giving contracts to his relatives is an abuse of his power.

Those given trust by the American citizenry should avoid even the appearance of wrongdoing.
"He who does not think himself worth saving from poverty and ignorance by his own efforts, will hardly be thought worth the efforts of anybody else." -- Frederick Douglass, Self-Made Men (1872)

And I can't help but thinking: "at least Cheney gave it to charity."

The charges have been dropped from Sen. Ted Stevens due to prosecutorial misconduct and his guilty verdict was overturned.

I was using Stevens as an example of why we should always allow these things to play out before forming a final, firm opinion, since as this case demonstrate, the prosecution and investigation themselves may be corrupt.

Considering my State of residence, I am particularly sensitive to the railroading Senator Stevens received.
