Fight Expected Over Cuba's Admission to International Group

So what happens if Cuba is admitted to the OAS without those reforms?

Should we quit the OAS?

I say yes get the hell out but the funny thing is it seem accourding to the story that Cuba doesn't want to be part of the OAS anyway.

Sounds like their education system is working well for them....

Our Cuba policy is nothing but the inertia of stupidity, carried on by each administration. Do you think that isolating Cuba so that the people only have the state as a source of goods and ideals is going to make them more open? I have yet to see a single example of a closed society become open because we levied sanctions on them.

How exactly does it preventing Cuba from joining the OAS help America? The only thing it does it add truth to the claims of those who would attack us in the public forum. Decades of messing around in Latin American affairs has brought us nothing but trouble, it is time to end the last remnant of that era.

The U.S. needs to get over the fact that some nations have decided to be communist. It's already trading with the richest communist country on the planet right now, and there's no sign that will ever slow down. Cuba is small potatoes... let's get over this decades' old resentment and carry on relations. The missile crisis was bad, but holding onto a grudge is not going to change anything.

Fact is, Cuba is part of the Americas. Excluding it is only hurting the Cuban people.
