I don't see a problem with this. The President deserves to also life a normal life and every marriage needs the attention the Obama's are giving to their's to stay healthy.

I would much rather the Obama's go on date nights and stay happily married then their marriage result in separation from resentment and silence.

I have no problem with Obama, Bush, or any other President taking time to spend with their family. Those on here attacking Obama are just feigning outrage. The same outrage that was lacking when Bush would take his family on trips and fly back and forth to Texas (which I also never had a problem with). Those that think the President NEEDS to be in the White House to perform the job are technologically ignorant.

I think your missing the point of the story, it's not the fact Mr.Obama went out to dinner and show which like you I think he should live a nomal life as possible the problem was this he flew up to NYC after a few months ago giving the Auto Exs a hard time and blasting Corps for having Conventions in Vegas(Which has cost Vegas allot of money).

And you are missing the point he was giving the execs a bad time because they came from the same place BEGGING for money all the while flying in corporate jets.

Tell me, wouldn't you give someone a hard time going up begging for welfare if they drove up in a Lexus?

You do understand those Corp Jets are owned by the Big Three and are to be used by the Exs to move around the Country.

You do understand that to drive from Detroit to DC is close to a 15 hour drive and the actual cost between gas,tolls would be almost the same to take the Corp Jets which they have owned for over 15 Years and about 2 and 1/2 hour flight.

The auto execs flew three separate corporate jets from the exact same place to the same place asking for handouts. The outrage was in part that these execs had not learned to do what most of us working class types have learned, car pooling to save money. Also, and I repeat, this was congress and the media, not Obama making the fuss.

Sorry, but that isn't even close to being true. I live in Virginia, and I drive to North West Ohio frequently.

I work in DC and have done the drive to US Military Tank Assembly Plant outside of Detroit many times and it has always been close to 15 hours,

The timing is about right, but the cost isn't close. It's about $100/$150 for fuel, toll, food etc. Maybe $200/$300 if you get a hotel, and make a 2 day trip. The cost of a single private jet far exceeds those cost's for this trip. The pilot, and crew alone probably cost a lot more than that.

Ah but you forgot at this time gas price's were around 4.50 a gallon then their is the tolls the last time I did the drive it was close to 75 round trip.

No it was not. The auto execs flew to Washington in November 08 to beg for money. Gas prices where not nearly 4.50 at that time.

I just made the trip last month. The toll for the Penn. Turnpike was $10, Ohio Turnpike was $6. Its only approx 700 miles each way, even at $4.50 a gallon, and only 20 MPG, fuel cost's are only approx. $315 round trip.
 
If Obama stays home, then he portrays "weakness" much like Carter did by turning down the thermostat and wearing a sweater. So if Carter got knocked for that, who is to say people wouldn't say the same thing about Obama? The simple fact of the matter is that no matter what he does, the GOP will complain and will complain just for the sake of doing so. Obama should go out and have a good time and it is not hypocritical that he expects the executives to cut frivolous expenses. Why?, it wasn't Obama who wrecked the auto industry, the banking industry, or the financial investment houses. Until he messes up to the extent that they have, he should the time of his life as leader of the free world. The execs are more indebted to the citizens and taxpayers of this country through their actions than Obama is his through his.

Cost of Air Force one at $56,518 per hour 2 hour min.
Cost of Air Force one to sit waiting
Marine one to fly all the way to NY & back.
Another plane to deliver the Presidential Limo ahead of Obama arrival
Disruption of traffic and business in New York
Extra cost of police and secret service
I'd guess we're talking about at the very least a quarter million dollars of tax payers money to see a a show and have dinner?
Hey what the hey Michelle used to make $307.69 an hr. for a job she didn't bother to show up for much of the time. So this isn't too far out of line with the I got mine Obama crowd. He'd say now the rest of you listen to what I say do pay any attention to what I do. We're all in this recession together as far as you know and as long as the media ignores my personal wasteful spending of the money we're going to continue to take from you with things like the CO2 tax that we'll say is to save the world but in truth it's to pay for waste in a liberal world of excessive personal perks.

Big deal they replaced one big plane with smaller (PLANES) meaning more than one it still cost more than most people make in a year, or even two.
