    Re: Cop pulls over ambulance

A question that I have for our law enforcment authorities is this. Since when did placing your hands around someones neck and applying great force obviously causing them to choke become an accepted police defensive and arrest tactic? In my opinion such use of force constitutes reckless endangerment.

I think that is why I largely avoid reading comments there. It really is sad that freedom of speech means that some people are going to use it to be asses.

Cops do have a tough job, that is all the more reason to DEMAND a level of professionalism from those that are charged to protect and serve. To be honest, I'd feel safer knowing that cops like that cannot keep their jobs very long.
Had that been the case, the ambulance would have been transporting priority and would have had lights and siren on, and this would not have been an issue.

Yes, this part struck me as strange, and possibly made up.

I don't think any officer of the law would have said something so ****ing stupid, even if he DID think it.

    Re: Cop pulls over ambulance

I watched the video and don't know how the heck anyone would even begin to understand what is happening in the video. None of it makes a lick of sense.

The EMT is transporting his own mother?

The cop is mad 'cause they didn't get out of his way and he's in a rush to get somewhere? How in a rush could he be if he's got time to for this nonsense?

Who the hell knows what is actually happening there? I don't.

Would you rather he taser him? He was restraining a belligerent indvidual who was obstructing an officer.

It doesn't matter if the the light is flashing, you cannot break the law. I use to be on a rescue squad.

    Re: Cop pulls over ambulance

I don't know the specifics of the ambulance sirens. Maybe some don't have them on when there is no traffic? My impression was that the siren was for telling traffic to get out of the way, but if it's clear sailing to the hospital then would they still use it?

I still think the police could have given more leeway. Even if the EMTs did something wrong, it's not like they can drive away at high speed to escape the cops, with a patient no less. Given the number of cop cars that showed up, it would have been an easy matter to just escort the ambulance to the hospital to complete its task. Not to mention, even if the EMT did flip off the cop, it's not like this crime was so bad that it couldn't have waited. You'd swear that the ambulance had hostages and bombs by the way the cops were all over it.

But... the law is so bureaucratic and it could be ruled upon differently. I'm just saying, if I were the one deciding on what this situation meant, I would say that the cops could have compromised and got their jobs done.
