    Isn't that the truth.

Bush v. Gore had the SC overturning a Florida law as intrerpreted by the Florida Supreme Court.

FYI Manhattan is right in the middle of New England.
New England compromises the northeastern states.

Did you ever consider that this is segregation by de facto and not de jure.

I see that you are now dodging your intent, thats fine.

Of course I have to defend the south every time someone dumps on it with their irrational bigotry.

Generally speaking Republicans don't legislate by someones race, thats a plus because legislated things by race produces inequalities.

FYI dude, I'm not a Republican.

Why is choosing a person defined by race and gender brilliant?

Does it make her more knowledgeable because she is an "afflicted minority"?

    Sonia Sotomayor nominated to SCOTUS

Obama nominates Sonia Sotomayor to Supreme Court - CNN.com

Sotomayor "is an inspiring woman who I believe will make a great justice," Obama said at a White House announcement.

She "has worked at almost every level of our judicial system, providing her with a depth of experience and a breadth of perspective that will be invaluable as a Supreme Court justice," he added.

Obama said Sotomayor would bring more experience on the bench than anyone currently serving on the Supreme Court when appointed.
She faces a lot of opposition from Conservatives who believe that she is an activist judge, according to the article. She rose quickly to power and apparently offended some people along the way.

Anyway... I'm curious to know what others think of this nomination?

Dunno if you can call them rulings but her position on the CT firefighters
(# Ricci v. DeStefano. In this 2008 case, Sotomayor participated in a one-page decision that allowed the City of New Haven, Connecticut to scrap the results of a promotion test for the city's firefighters because no African-Americans passed the test. In April 2009, the Supreme Court said that it would review the Second Circuit's decision.)

....and her general written/expressed views on what the courts are.
Her social views are questionable as well.

That is a ruling, yes. You have shown a dislike for one out of hundreds of rulings she has made. Did Rush tell you about any others you might want to object to, cuz one ruling is not much.

I didn't, i simply asked for the context she was taken out of. Lets back up a claim, before we demand answers to the next question.

The term "judicial activist" has always seemed like code for "too liberal."

Funny how we don't hear that term applied to far right wing judges whose consistency in ruling in ways pleasing to conservatives.
