If you had any respect for our Constitution then you would not have any real problem with that 11%. You either support our Constitution or you do not and you sound as if you do not since you seem to have a problem with freedom of thought and speech.
That 11% have just as much a right to feel the way they do as you have every right to wanna be some chest pounding pro military buffon. Do you really think that if you are not pro-military that you have no respect for our heritage?
Since when did it become some loopy idea in this country that if you do not agree with the military in general that you lack common sense and have no respect for our country or our heritage? This country is all about Freedom and maybe you should remind yourself of that.
This thread is destined to fall deeply into disinterest, as a holiday special, yet it realy is all we are about.
"This country is all about freedom"... The captain is ready, with his heavy hand, to destroy a great debate, in DEBATE politics. I tip my hat to HATuey, and Jamesrage ( especialy Jr) for practicing freedom on this greatest of all weekends. My hope is that neither be either Ostracized nor censored for exercising their freedom of speach.
A thread or two back, I was explaining to some special interest, That when I entered the military, I was willing to die for this country, to included the rights of the hippies that were screaming for peace ( now a favorite concept of mine). Then some a...hole, in the USSC, said its OK to burn the flag (it is not...).
4 months into the Navy (1969), I was walking past the the Chiefs lounge at lunch hour, and I heard what sounded like another battle field comeing from the speakers on their TV. They (our military), were shooting unarmed students at Kent university. After lunch, a Chief and I got into a shouting match, about 2 inches from eachothers noses. WE both apparently agreed on the concept of freedom that you and I have, because we shut the hell up and started afternoon classes.
75% isn`t a bad number, at all, when you take into concideration the urgency of getting freedom right, and keeping it, in a country where freedom of speach and expression are so threatened all of the time. Debates can get pretty heated....
Equal rights? I agree to such a concept for the 11%ers rights to disagree...
A very special heart felt nod to our U.S. Militaries. :2wave:
DING...DING ! Round 2 ( Hat vs Jr)
