We had a few draftees in the Marine Corps in Nam, (42,633) I couldn’t tell the difference, other than they were short timers when the got drafted to my nineteen year old eyes.
Here’s a bit of history as well, during WW2 93% of the Army was draftees, Hhmm…seems that they did a pretty good job.
Shall we go back a bit further, say WW1? According to a report on a VFW site, during the years of Sept. 5, 1917 to Nov. 11, 1918, 2,810,296 men were drafted into the Army, according to the same source that made 72% of the service. Oh, one of them was a lad from Tennessee that had a grand total of nine months of schooling; his name was Sergeant Alvin York.
