Honolulu's Internet vote considered 1st in nation - Yahoo! News

HONOLULU – "Voting has ended in what is being touted as the nation's first
all-digital election, and city officials say it has been a success.

Some 115,000 voters in Honolulu's neighborhood council election were able to
pick winners entirely online or via telephone. The voting, which started May
6, ended Friday.

City officials say the experiment appears to have generated few problems; it
has even saved the financially strapped city around $100,000.

"It is kind of the wave of the future," said Bryan Mick, a community
relations specialist with the city Neighborhood Commission, "so we're kind
of glad in a way that we got to be the ones who initiated it."

Web voting, which produces no paper record, cannot be used in city council
or state elections because state law bars voting systems that do not include
a vote verification process, said Warren Stewart, legislative policy
director for Verified Voting Foundation, a nonpartisan advocacy group".

The potential for fraud is is unmatched even by ACORN and Diebold and leave
it to a mainly liberal controlled State Government to come up with this
"Money Saving" scheme with the potential insure that leftists are never out
of power and are able to continue the march to socialism, and worse.

Make note that; "Web voting, which produces no paper record, cannot be used in city council or state elections because state law bars voting systems that do not include a vote verification process, said Warren Stewart, legislative policy director for Verified Voting Foundation, a nonpartisan advocacy group".
What does this scream at you?

Screams fraud to me. This is why it is laughable any time sore loosers where screaming fraud when Bush won twice. It looks like a blatant attempt to open it up for fraud. No paper trail. If they can't personally go down to the polling station then they shouldn't be allowed to vote, the only exception should be for those in the military or on business trips. How do they know if the person on the computer is who they say they are? IP address, oh please. IP addresses are not permanent, I know because I had several different ones in the past couple of months, sometimes you can even manually changed a digit or two,if you got more than one ethernet card then it it is easy as disabling one card, turning off or resetting the cable modem and switching on another card. There are proxy sites you can go to and I am pretty sure you can look up the range of IPs that a local service provides or uses.

If they gave a damn about preventing voter fraud they would at least make sure the person voting an ID, sign the voter sign in sheet and use a paper ballot. Electronic machines do not do these things and if they want it make it more convenient for voters then have either more polling places and or have it open on the weekend.
