The title of this story should have been "If at first you don't succeed LIE, LIE again. Then shut up".

It was clear when she started her lies that she was lying. Every radio talk show host that I am aware of knew about water boarding and talked about it on the air either for or against going back to the opening of GITMO. And yes they are all moderate to conservative leaning people hosts. Since no one was listening to "Error America" the leftist network ever.

The story ; Pelosi: Nothing more to say on her CIA allegation

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Friday she won't talk any more about her charge that the CIA lied in 2002 about using waterboarding on terrorism suspects.

"I have made the statement that I'm going to make on this," she told reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference. "I don't have anything more to say about it. I stand by my comment."

But Republicans aren't letting this one slide.

Ken Spain, spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, issued a statement after the news conference calling Pelosi a political liability to the Democratic party.

"Her obsession with the previous administration and her disdain for America's intelligence officials has reduced her to cheerleader status within the far left wing of her party and a distraction to the substantive debate over how to best move our economy forward," said Spain.

Does anyone still wonder why she's often called Nasty Piglousy?

I was hoping she would have more to say. I just love her Porky Pig imitation when she gets caught in a lie.
 
I hope she looses her Speaker position. Which brings up the question: how the heck did she get it in the first place?!?
 
Good, maybe she will shut up and stop hurting the democratic party. This was at worst a big deal over nothing, until she opened her mouth.

Apparently, I was too subtle. I was trying to make the point that it isn't the fact that Nancy Pelosi is damaging the Democrats by a poor performance before the press, but by simply showing the Democrats for the frauds they are.

She isn't expressing the principles of the party badly, because there is almost nothing of the sort to express.

Do you understand now?
 
No in fact learning from past experiences that we have all seen concerning the Republican party when they are desperately trying to regain a shred of legitemacy in the political realm, when their attacks and accusations go unaswered then nothing stops them from continuous character assassinations. Same old tatics really nothing new here. In this case they are lamely trying to use Pelosi as and distraction so they(for a very short period of time)have to discuss the reality of the Bush Admin violating American and international law.

Pelosi made them do it....

Republicans...the world views you as pathetic liars and jokes.

Pelosi made her statements and I agree with her. Bush's CIA lied through their teeth always and frequently.

With attitudes like you have now how long is it going to take to regain any shred of dignity and credibility in the eyes of the world?

As we all can see at this point in time Republicans have none and haven't for some time now.

Can anyone come up with one good reason why Nancy Pelosi should care about what Ken Spain and the National Congressional Committee thinks?

Pelosi is not a liability to the Democratic party...she is a potential source of embarressment for the party if the CIA finds some way to prove that they did not lie to her. That won't happen. She will serve out her term and the people in her constituancy will continue to appreciate the value of thier Representative being the most powerful woman in the House...and re-elect her. What is really RNC and Conservative media attempts to distract Americans from the legality of torture during the Bush adminstration will be successful. Conservative media floods the airwaves the same way Conservative and anti Obama posters flood this site with posts.

It strikes me that Republics want back in power more than Liberals want to keep it. They are willing to exaggerate, distract, and propagandize more. I almost think sometimes we should just let the Republics take over...even if they can't get things done we won't have to hear that constant catterwalling.

I say open an investigation on her and everyone else who might have known. If no laws were broken, no foul. On the other hand...

Don't protect her. If she did wrong she should be punished. Its hypocritical to say we should try Cheney & Co. but not Pelosi. If you go down that road then you are no better than the people you just replaced.

I think that will all come out in the wash of a investigation of who ordered torture to be used.

Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Gonzalas and their lawyers for starters.

Finding out "who might have known" will just be a byproduct of taking out this garbage.

I'm not protecting her. I put forth the notion that she is already protected.

I agree with you that if she did something wrong that she should be punished...what I would like is for someone to come up with documentation that proves something either way...if not...everyone needs to move on and focus on something more critical like the economy.
 
At the very least she needs to be removed as speaker..even that is barely adequate punishment.

With all the mistakes the CIA has admitted they made in those recently released documents, it's obvious that none of those documents can be trusted. They were written up from "memory" of events that happened years ago.

Next wild story from the RNC? That's RushNewtCheney! :cool:
 
You know, all this talk about Pelosi being in the wrong or right is really just irking me. I really think we should treat all politicians the same and take everything they say with a grain of salt. If she can prove her innocence to the public, the people who trust her to do her job, then she's fine. Otherwise, all politicians are guilty until proven innocent. I really don't believe that she didn't know about the waterboarding. Especially since everyone else in the world knew about it.
 
No I'm not going to say the CIA never lies. I'm may be stupid, but not that stupid. In all honesty, I really believe that they all are in cahoots with each other and the arguing is just smoke screens put up to get the American public divided.

If in fact the CIA has lied, then i would be unconscionable for her not to speak out. Since neither you nor I know for sure, how about we do something smart and wait on results before making wild accusations.
