Re: Hardin, Montana Requests Guantanamo Detainees

I know that the Montana Senate and Congressmen are strongly opposed to this and are trying to block it because they are worried that "Montana's reputation will suffer." I wasn't aware that we even had a reputation to begin with.

.....Why do the little small town folks of Hardin, Montana hate America?

    story HERE
The only problem I have with it is the legal implications regarding holding these people on sovereign U.S. territory which will grant them full Constitutional protections which IMHO they are in no way entitled to.

I just finished reading John Grishoms work of Non-fiction. Based on your coments and the vivid descriptions on LIFE(?) in American prisons (from the book), I`m thinking they just might get more justice here. You very well may be correct sir, ...provided we are talking LIFE.

Enemy combatants are now considered "poor shmucks"?

Why should we give non-U.S. citizens engaged in overt acts of war against the U.S. civilian as opposed to military trials? The real reason why you people want Gitmo closed and the detainees brought to the U.S. is so you can provide them with full Constitutional protections of which have never been provided to POW's let alone unlawful combatants in the entire history of this planet.

Oh and FYI if they are found not guilty they can't be sent home because their countries of origins will not take them, meaning that we will be forced to grant them U.S. citizenship which again is what the left is really after here.

    Heh.

Of course, they're trying to save their town and don't mind not being hypocritical about how they do it (no NIMBYs there!). They've got a big, brand new, completely empty prison, high unemployment, and a terrible economic outlook. Seems like killing two or three birds with one stone, to me.

Seriously, if you'd ever been to Hardin, you'd understand in a heartbeat. The news story paints the picture exactly right. The place is bleak - empty storefronts and drunken Indians wandering the streets (the res is dry; the Crow go to Hardin to drink).

Besides, we already house terrorists in our prisons. While I favor execution over life in prison, if we're determined to let 'em live, why not let 'em live there?

I imagine there will be a lot of outrage and complaints about this, especially in the richer and more pretentious areas of Montana

If they are brought to the U.S. they will all be set free because all evidence against them will be deemed inadmissible because not only did they undergo coercive interrogations but they were denied Miranda rights. This is what Obama and the left are really after because once they set foot on sovereign U.S. territory they will be afforded full Constitutional protections. But it doesn't stop there either because since these peoples countries of origins won't take them we will have no choice but to set them free within the United States and either grant them citizenship or alien resident status so that they can get on about their business of killing Americans.
