So we should restrict everyones rights because someone may be stupid or psychotic enough to maybe do something?

The majority should not be punished for the illegal acts of a few.
We restrict people's "rights" all the time to protect the community. My problem with this is that the people carrying guns in federal parks do not pass any of the hurdles someone would have to pass to get a conceal permit. No background check. No valid reason to carry. Any jackass looking to pump his chest with his metal penis could get carried away in any situation. i.e. road rage, loud music, "hey you looking at me?".

There are plenty of dangerous places in any big city and yet, for some strange reason the general public cannot carry guns.

Carrying a gun in a national park is a very common practice law allowing it or not. I don't but one of my friends always has a 9mm with him.

Reasons are self evident to anyone who has ever hiked outside the toilet party campsites.
Everything from bears(yes they are real) to absolute loony as all get out cabin fever hillbilly boys.
99% of the time you won't need a gun for either(bears/animals are usually more interested in getting away form a human then near one...hillbilly jimmy is usually more interested in getting drunk or high)
BUT having a gun is better then not having one in the event you do need one.

As for hiding it within a bill on something else..I don't think that should be allowed.
But it is... so I do not expect one party to follow non-existent rules while the other continuously inserts their crap in troop funding bills.
We get alot of those in the park near here. The problem is that most of the guys carrying guns are the hillbilly Jimmy types, who then blast away at squirrels. I don't think any one has ever been hurt at the park, and it's mostly a subject of jokes here. Drunk hunters are worse in this area...the gunshot holes in my barn can attest to that.

Depends on the big city in question. Oddly enough, the ones with the worst crime rates are where citizens can't carry. The ones where citizens CAN carry typically have lower crime rates.

Anti-gunners are always spouting this hysteria: "Oh, it will be a wild west bloodbath with all those rednecks running around with guns!" They said that about "shall issue concealed carry" permits... and it turned out to be utterly false. About 40 states have that now and all had a reduction in violent crime.

It's an undeniable fact, armed lawful citizens = less crime. Cry and moan all you will, you can't change it because it is true.

Well my idea of a national forest/park is Olympics/Cascades...iow Alpine lakes and stuff..not Chicago National Park.

WASHINGTON Here's a list of stuff the typical American family can legally carry into national parks this summer: sleeping bag, toothbrush, change of underwear . . . loaded guns.

Thanks to a 279-147 vote Wednesday in the House of Representatives , visitors to the nation's parks and wildlife refuges will be able to carry weapons there if they abide by state weapons laws.
Whats wrong with that?..other then having it inserted in another bill about something else entirely?
