KBR just took another of it's many middleman cuts. But why worry about a few million here or there when millions (some say billions) in $100 bills shrink-wrapped on pallets were airlifted to Iraq and just simply vanished.

Incidentally if you're talking about the fires during Desert Storm, it was the same Boots and Coots and Wild Well plus a host of others, including but not limited to, Red Adair, Neal Adams Firefighters, Cudd Well/Pressure Control and Safety Boss.
Spare us. KBR had the contract to put out the fires.

And the fact remains that KBR is just another example of the Left making up false allegations about anything that had to do with fighting a war in Iraq.

How's that "Bush lied" thing coming along?

And your side will say anything including eating your own to keep up the facade that Iraq wasn't/isn't a war of choice and a morally bankrupt decision. You HAVE to defend it because it's all you've got left after 8 years of ineptitude, chicanery and buffoonery from your party.

You can prove they are lies, as you accuse? Or are you actually like most of us, waiting to see if they are actually guilty. I do find it amusing you accuse the "left" of jumping to conclusions, when it appears you have done the same.

fyi Re: U.S. Army paid bonuses to KBR despite questions

Halliburton's former subsidiary, KBR, is a major construction company of refineries, oil fields, pipelines, and chemical plants. Halliburton announced on April 5, 2007 that it had finally broken ties with KBR, which had been its contracting, engineering and construction unit as a part of the company for 44 years.

Years ago the military decided not to do most of the peripheral mundane tasks that they have historically done for themselves, and since that time every contract has been suspect and the savings negligible at best. Over more than 20 years everything done other than training and fighting has gone down hill as the costs have gone up, this includes medical care before and after combat injuries. There is NO EXCUSE for our military not not taking care of it's own and providing the best of everything they need and or use. Not one tenth of one percent of our defense contracts of any kind for any item should be allowed to be farmed out to any country regardless of who they are or how long they have been allies to insure there can be no interruption in deliveries and create jobs at home.

So you're backing off your original statement that I responded to?

Considering that I didn't say anything about 'Bush lied', why do you ask? Deflection from your false statement?

Don't be so foolish. The left doesn't control the Pentagon's investigative team that is presenting the findings.

How's that "Bush lied" thing coming along?
He did. So I would say it's already came along.

Of course he is because he knows he is busted. So he'll just pretend it didn't happen.

It's the old "red herring" defense.

And his injection of the Bush issue is the smoke screen he is trying to use to cover his argument as it's being picked apart.

The question now is, can you keep him pinned down or will all this wiggling allow him to escape?

Absolutely! Excellent post. This down sizing was a result of the post-Vietnam reorganization of the military to the All Volunteer Force structure that General Abrams came up with (heavy emphasis on staffing combat units with support functions picked up by the Guard and Reserves and to some limited extent the civilian contractor force). Originally it was envisioned that the Guard and Reserves would provide the vast majority of these services. The actual intent of this reorganization was to avoid situations just like Vietnam and Iraq. The thought was that this design, further clarified and refined by the Weinberger Doctrine and then the Powell Doctrine would force us to fight only wars of necessity and wars which had the full support of Congress and the public.

The problem is we have committed our forces to campaigns well beyond the scope of their intended mission and that has created an environment in which situations like this can arise and flourish.

I am going to refer you back to my very first post in this thread. Here is what I said:

KBR is under investigation. They have not been convicted or even actually charged with anything criminal at this point. If the bonuses where contractually mandated, then the government is under obligation to pay them. Remember, guilty until proven innocent. from that standpoint, I think this is a nonstory.
One of us looks unreasonable now. I wonder who that is.
