Biden Reveals Location of Secret VP Bunker

I really have a hard time thinking of our enemies ever attacking Joe Biden. Moore likely they'd want him to be made president and then sit back and wait for him to deploy the Navy to Afghanistan, and have the Army patrol the Gulf of Arabia.

It would depend on the reasons behind why the information was classified in the first place (assuming it is). Trust me, it doesn't always make sense. I've read about things in the paper that I knew were classified, but still couldn't talk about them because they were still considered classified.
Understandable, and I know what you are talking about here.

It was just something off the top of my head, so I really don't have a good argument for it.

Fair enough.

And why would you assume he is so daft on military matters?

Well, if they were reasonably intelligent people to begin with . . . .
Psst. . .Lerxst, if our enemies were reasonably intelligent people, they wouldn't think that strapping bombs to their kids was a really cool way to wage war.

Funny...I'll give you that. Very disingenuous, however.

:rofl

Are we still talking about the bunker everyone knew about.

There was story that came out around 2002 about one of the neighbors complaining about all the dust and noise when Cheney had the place upgraded.

Not a Cheney fan, but I have no problem with these places being as fortified and high-tech as possible. I don't want to hear about a frig full of cristal, mind you, but I have no problem with safety and security.

If our enemies where that unintelligent, they would not be a threat. Never a good idea to underestimate those who want to destroy you.

And why would you assume he is so daft on military matters?
Because, and mind you I never found Biden worthy of interest before he became V.P, it appears to me that if he was to be proven as not being daft on military matters, it would be the first area of governance or policy in which he was not.

Well, that's a long road to take to get to where you are going. Why can you just judge him based upon his defense positions?

Exactly. You can't look at the actions of homicide bombers (obviously fanatical zealots or simply brainwashed at risk sheep) and then assume anything about those manipulating them and planning their missions. You didn't see OBL with one of those vests on. There is a reason for that.

Eh, foreign policy expert, he can't even keep a secret.

Eh, foreign policy expert, he can't even keep a secret.

That does not follow. Vice President Cheney was able to keep secrets, but was horrible on foreign policy. One does not lead to the other.

Even I knew there was a bunker under the VP house...since when was it a secret? The value of the bunker is that it's secure, and will survive even a nuclear detonation. Knowing it's location won't compromise that.

there are more than a few secret bunkers at area 51......

but try getting over that airspace..

so he's dumb....we still must protect him.....he may well assume the position:mrgreen:

Heh, was was moving on from this when the joke sank in. I laughed.

This just in: Biden Aide Denies Vice President Leaked Classified Location of Cheney Bunker.

Vice President Joe Biden did not leak classified information when he reportedly described to dinner guests the location of a "hideaway" his predecessor, Dick Cheney, used in the days following the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, an aide to Biden said Monday.

"There was no disclosure of classified information," spokeswoman Elizabeth Alexander said.

She said Biden was merely describing a guest room in the Naval Observatory, the official vice presidential residence in Washington.

-----------------

Alexander on Monday described the room as a rather accessible place that is far from secret.

She said the room was not an underground facility, "rather, an upstairs workspace in the residence, which he understood was frequently used by Vice President Cheney and his aides.

"That workspace was converted into an upstairs guest room when the Bidens moved into the residence."

So, I just have to ask. Who was Clift's source for her article? Nothing I've found indicated she overheard this herself, and no article ever names an actual source. Just "head table" dinner mates or whatever.

So what exactly was said? A whole bunch of people here surely rushed to judgment on this, taking the word of an unnamed source and speculating on the veracity of hearsay from a dinner party none of them actually attended. Now it doesn't even sound like a bunker at all.

What was my cautionary position on this one? Oh yeah...

By me said:
I want to see what specific information Biden actually released that was considered classified.
..............
I agree, is the location of the bunker actually "classified" as defined by the law?
.............
Well I won't assume the specifics yet, I want to see more information on what he actually said and what the status of this particular "secret bunker" really is.

Wow, in light of Alexanders statement and the fact that NOBODY actually knows what Biden said it appears that some of you guys really went out of your way to mount your "jump to conclusions" pony and ride into the ground in your condemnation of Biden over what you were convinced was a breach of national security and a criminal act. Tell me, how did you get there again?

You all (you know who you are) should feel embarrassed.

Interesting. Assuming this latest information is true, I would say that someone is lying in this whole thing...either Biden, or the reporter who wrote the original story.

Divulging classified information to anyone without the appropriate clearance and a need to know is a criminal offense. Anyone who has ever held a security clearance knows this. The VP has commited a criminal offense and should be brought up on charges and sent to prison.

Here is the law pertaining to disclouser of classified information.

Title 18, United States Code

Section 798. Disclosure of classified information

(a) Whoever knowingly and willfully communicates, furnishes, transmits, or otherwise makes available to an unauthorized person, or publishes, or uses in any manner prejudicial to the safety or interest of the United States or for the benefit of any foreign government to the detriment of the United States any classified information--

(1) concerning the nature, preparation, or use of any code, cipher, or cryptographic system of the United States or any foreign government; or

(2) concerning the design, construction, use, maintenance, or repair of any device, apparatus, or appliance used or prepared or planned for use by the United States or any foreign government for cryptographic or communication intelligence purposes; or

(3) concerning the communication intelligence activities of the United States or any foreign government; or

(4) obtained by the process of communication intelligence from the communications of any foreign government, knowing the same to have been obtained by such processes--

Shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.

(b) As used in subsection (a) of this section--

The term "classified information" means information which, at the time of a violation of this section, is, for reasons of national security, specifically designated by a United States Government Agency for limited or restricted dissemination or distribution.

Classified Information Nondisclosure Agreement Briefing Booklet

So, you agree that Libby, Rove, Cheney and Bush should be imprisoned for outing a covert CIA spy... right? Can you say... "hypocrite"?

That does not follow. Vice President Cheney was able to keep secrets, but was horrible on foreign policy. One does not lead to the other.

Really? Like when Cheney got Bush to authorize Libby and Rove to "leak" classified information about Valerie Wilson being a CIA spy, which is against the law!, he was "keeping a secret"? Cheney, when he was VP, leaked whatever served his purpose. And I predict he will go down for it. It's just a matter of time.

How about this: "Vice President Cheney was able to keep secrets when he chose".

Yes I agree, if they broke the law they should be prosecuted. I can say hypocrite. Can you say "troll"

Interesting. Assuming this latest information is true, I would say that someone is lying in this whole thing...either Biden, or the reporter who wrote the original story.

Or, whoever Clifts source is. If someone at the party told her Biden said this and then she ran with it as an unnamed source, well then it's just your typical media stunt and nothing more. I wouldn't necessarily call her a liar at this point.

However, if she names an independent third party witness as her source then all of sudden Biden is back in the spotlight and Clift has a more solide and defensible foundation for the story. Of course, just because somebody told Clift this doesn't mean it's true, but it sure makes you want to ask more questions, maybe someone interview more of the "head table" guests who might have heard the statement.

Knowing is half the battle.
